Hi I'm Jennifer

I grew up in the Western part of the U.S. I love being a mom. I'm a student and a teacher. I am also a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a single mother of two young children. I always felt that being a mother is very important. When I found myself single and going through a divorce, it was not easy. I did not want to go into the workforce. I chose to work in the public schools in order to have the best schedule possible to allow myself to be at home at about as much time as my children are home. My parents have been a wonderful support to me. I am continuing my education, as well, in order to support myself and my boys for our future. I enjoy playing the piano and flute, teaching music to children, learning, practicing fitness and nutrition principles, and doing both indoor and outdoor activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the peace and joy that I feel in my life when I follow and learn of the teachings of Jesus Christ. In fact, you may have heard or read that the nickname "Mormon" is used to explain members of our church, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." The reason is due to the precious book of scripture called, The Book Of Mormon. It is the keystone of our religion. I feel in my life how true this is, because when I read from its pages, I grow closer to Jesus Christ. I know that this book is a way that our Father in Heaven has prepared for all of His children to come to understand the truths spoken by prophets, both modern and ancient - as in the Bible. I also feel God's love for me as one of His daughters, and when I read from the scriptures daily and participate in the teachings of this church, this love becomes a growing reality. As I seek to feel his love in these ways, I am guided in my life - by feeling peace in times of making decisions and in times of trial. I have found in this church the greatest directions that will help me know how I can live so that I can feel the greatest joys now and forever.

How I live my faith

I am currently asked to help bring inspirational music into the church meetings where I attend. When appropriate music is used, the Spirit of the Lord is invited into our meetings. I have always felt the Lord's Spirit in my life through music, and I love this opportunity. I am able to help inspire others to share any musical talents they might have with others. For example, I have asked for individuals, groups, or even families to sing a special musical number in our Sacrament Meeting. There are many songs, or hymns, that are sung throughout our meetings on Sundays. This helps all who listen, or participate, feel closer to Jesus Christ. Serving in the church is wonderful, because I have been able to grow or increase certain talents - even if what I was asked to do seemed more difficult than other things that I was asked to do. The task became easier, and I always felt the joy that comes when serving in the church. I know this is because of the truth that comes over and over to my heart that Jesus Christ lives and this is His church.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a feeling in the heart that God lives and loves us, and that Jesus Christ lives and is our Savior. We can feel this peace every time we seek to learn about Him, read, or follow His teachings in the scriptures. If this practice is continued over and over, this conviction grows and it is easier to recognize and follow these feelings. Our understanding of who we are also increases. Show more Show less
