Hi I'm George

I'm a husband, a father, a Ph.D. student, a triathlete, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in England, grew up in Hong Kong and Tokyo, and graduated from high school in Germany. My late wife died of cancer five years ago and my wife's late husband also died of cancer. We have been married three years and have four beautiful and wonderful children. I am a doctoral candidate at Emory University, a triathlete, and I love spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents first met the Mormon missionaries in Brazil over thirty years ago. After getting baptized, they moved back to England, where I was born. I grew up a member of the LDS faith, but have come to learn and know for myself that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. I am Mormon because nothing brings me greater happiness than living the teachings of Christ and applying them in my life and within my home. As a member of the church, I also know that families can be together forever. This teaching of the LDS faith is fundamental in my home since both my wife and I are former widows. We are so grateful that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ has helped us understand what happens after we die, and has helped us teach our kids where our deceased spouses are, and that they will see and be with them again. I first learned that the Book of Mormon is the word of God after reading and praying about its truthfulness. I received a witness through the Holy Spirit that the words Joseph Smith translated are true. I also know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that he was chosen by God to restore the true church of Jesus Christ to the earth. I also know that we have a prophet chosen by our savior to teach us and guide us today, similar to prophets from the Old Testament.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church every Sunday, praying to my Father in Heaven, and reading and studying the scriptures daily. I also live my faith by spending time with my family, supporting them, teaching my kids the truths of the scriptures, and serving in my church. As a Mormon, I also don't drink alcohol, coffee, or tea nor do I smoke or take illegal drugs. I try and be Christ like in how I speak, treat, and deal with others and take opportunities to share the happiness the restored gospel has brought me and my family.
