Hi I'm Windy

I'm a Southern woman, a wife, mother, and grandmother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 3 beautiful girls and grandmother of 4 granddaughters and 8 grandsons.  I have in lived the South the majority of my life except for a few years when my Navy dad was assigned to other duty stations. While my girls were in high school, I decided to go to college. I successfully completed my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and then went on to receive a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology. Presently I work with other teachers helping them use technology with their students. I am able to use my computer skills to help others when searching for family history. I have always had the desire to know who my ancestors were and where they lived.

Why I am a Mormon

When my daughters were young, my husband and I saw a commercial on TV about a Mormon family. We wanted to have that same happiness that was so obvious. A friend introduced us to two Mormon missionaries and as we listened to their message, I knew that we had found the answer. I gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation as outlined by these two young men and had the desire to be baptized. This is a move that I have never regretted. I truly believe that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and helped to restored the true Church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I firmly believe that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and the contents within that book provide another witness of the divinity of Jesus Christ. I believe that Heavenly Father did not forsake his children in these latter days and continues to work through prophets. I believe that President Thomas S Monson is a prophet today and receives direct inspiration for guiding the people on the earth today. I know that Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ live and that is I live worthy one day I will live again with them and with my family. I have a testimony of the Temple and the ordinances that are received there especially the sealing ordinance. Because we are sealed together in the temple, after our mortal deaths, our family will be reunited again to live eternally. I love my family very much and the knowledge that we will live again together gives me reason to live righteously. Am I perfect? No way, but I am continually working towards that perfection. Heavenly Father loves me and provides me the opportunity to repent when I do wrong. He also has given great promises and if I do my part, He will keep those promises. The one great promise that I cherish is the promise of eternal life with my loved ones.

How I live my faith

I proudly hold a temple recommend which allows me to enter into the Lord's House. In order to possess this, I obey the Word of Wisdom, pay an honest tithe, and honor the covenants that I made in the Temple. I try to be a good example to those around me especially to my children and grandchildren. I am a counselor in the Church's woman's organization and help sisters in our area learn how to serve others, I have also worked in various other capacities within the church such as teaching the children from nursery age through teenagers. Each month I have the opportunity to visit other women in the church, share a spiritual thought with them and see ways that I can be of service. Since our Church is a lay Church, members, my self included, willingly work for blessings gained rather than money. I know that when I serve others, I am in the service of my God. This brings great comfort to me.
