Hi I'm Kay

I'm a teacher. I love technology, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

You could say I'm an optimist and a lifelong learner. I have a wonderful husband, four incredible children, and seven beautiful grandchildren. I try to give 110% of myself in everything I do. After our children were grown I started teaching again, went back to school and obtained my Master's Degree, and became a National Board Certified Teacher. I am a 2nd grade teacher who enjoys going to school everyday. When I am not teaching, my husband and I love to travel. Some of the favorite places we've visited are Brazil, Italy, France, Morocco, and Spain. We especially love traveling with our adult children and experiencing all we can together. I love digital photography, and enjoy sharing pictures I have taken on our family blog. I also enjoy researching my family tree and acquiring old family photos and histories.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a strong religious home in the Mid-West. My dad has been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since he was eight, and my mom was converted at age 19. My parents taught me both by word and example. Even though I was raised in a strong Mormon home, I had to find out for myself that what I had been taught all my life was true. I saw the joy and happiness that my parents had and knew that I wanted to have a happy marriage and family of my own some day too. As I studied the scriptures, and lived the principles of the gospel throughout my life I found true happiness. I can't even imagine living any other way. I know that there is a God who hears and answers my prayers, I know that my Savior Jesus Christ lives, and atoned for my sins. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth today, and it is such a blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

My husband and I have the wonderful opportunity to work with Young Single Adults, ages 18 to 30 at the present time. It is such a blessing to participate with such amazing people at church as we plan activities, share testimonies, play volleyball, and and meet together. I enjoy leading our Young Single Adult choir, and love assisting in any way I can. I also have the opportunity to visit some of the Young Single Adults each month in their homes and share a spiritual message with them.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

The Mormon lifestyle is a happy lifestyle. True happiness comes from serving others, and being a Mormon has given me many opportunities to serve. When you become a Mormon you are given opportunities to help others, whether it be teaching a class, speaking in church, or assisting with humanitarian projects. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is what gives me hope in a troubled world. Our Heavenly Father knew that we would make mistakes in mortality, so He provided a way for us to overcome sin and death. He provided a plan whereby we could return to live in His presence. His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, willingly came to earth to show us the way to live. He organized His church and taught what we needed to do to return to live with God. His greatest gift was to atone for our sins, which provided a way for us to return to live in God's presence, where we can obtain true joy and happiness. The Savior suffered in an incomprehensible way for the sins of all mankind in the Garden of Gethsemane, and then again on the cross. In John 6:38, and 40 it shows what Jesus taught when on the earth: "I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day." I know that if we have faith in Jesus Christ, repent of our sins and obey His words and follow Him, we can overcome sin and death, and live eternally in happiness and joy. Show more Show less
