Hi I'm Michael

I am a retired RN, living in Sun City Center, Florida. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I joined the US Air Force at age 17 and served 4 years. I was a medical corpsman. I liked the medical field, so i went to nursing school in New York City. Following graduation I worked in the psychiatric field which I continued throughout my career. I married my wife who was also from Ohio but I met her in NYC. We decided to move back to Ohio to be near our families. We went from New York City to a village of 500 people. We had two children who are now grown and married. Our daughter gave us two beautiful grand daughters.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Methodist but stopped attending church regularly as a teen. My Father never went to church and my Mother only went at Easter or special occasions. After we had children, we joined a church near our home. It did not seem right to me and I prayed to find the Lord's true church. These daily prayers were answered several months later when a set of LDS missionaries knocked on our door in 1981. I had studied religions for years and was not quick to commit to any one church or belief system. The missionaries kept coming for over a year and we started attending the local LDS church. We liked the people and still did not believe everything we were being taught. I read the Book of Mormon and was sincerely asking the Lord if it was true scripture while driving to work one morning. As soon as I said A-men, a warmth filled my entire body especially in my bosom. I knew that it was true scripture. I then spoke aloud and said, "Then Joseph Smith must be a Prophet of God." Again a warmth filled my bosom and I knew that it was true. I was baptized and three months later my wife was baptized. I never regretted that decision for one second since. My testimony has grown over these many years (now 27) as the Lord through the Holy Ghost has confirmed in so many ways that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His one true church on the earth today. The following poem desrcibe my feelings about His church. WHAT IF ? What would happen if we could talk with Jesus ? The Jesus, Creator of this earth, Savior and Redeemer of us all, The very One, the Beginning and the End. What would we do? What would we say? Could we stand before Him? Or would His presence fell us to our knees, head bowed, tears flowing. Would we be able to be in His shining glow? And could we speak? Or would He know what we wanted to say? And touch our head gently, speak to our soul, Feel His love pour upon us, Know that He would advocate for us, Continued in next section.

How I live my faith

Would we be able to be in His shining glow? Speak to God, Our Father in Heaven, on our behalf, and lift us up into His presence forever. What if He could hear our prayers? What if He could answer our prayers? What if He had a living Prophet on this earth? A man who could guide and direct us in His name? What if God, the Father and Jesus Christ had re-established their church on earth? What if They did it though a Prophet? What if the twelve Apostles were re-established on the earth? What if everything you hoped for could be trur? What if you could be with your family forever and ever ? What if you did not have to fear anything or anybody because you knew for a certainty that God and Jesus Christ do live and love you? What if the Holy Ghost could testify of the truthfulness of anything you needed to know? What if the Holy Spirit could guide you daily in your life and comfort you when in trouble? What if you knew for a certainty that all this was true? What if God had revealed even more Scriptures than the Holy Bible? A book that testifies that Jesus is the Christ, our Savior and Redeemer? What if you could read that book and be edified? Would you read the Book off Mormon if I gave you a copy? What if I told you that I do know that it is all true? And that you could know too What if it could give you the peace that overcomes all? Would you let Him into your heart? Would you let missionaries teach you how? Would you put aside your fears, prejudices and listen to a still small voice? Then you can become a Saint (Latter-Day Saint) in the Church of Jesus Christ. I try to follow the Prophets and Apostles and do the simple things day to day to live a Christ-like life : pray everyday; read and study the scriptures; be the best husband and father i can be; attend my church meetings weekly; honor my Priesthood; serve others through home teaching and church callings; love my Father in heaven and Jesus Christ with all my heart, mind and strength; serve in the Lord's Temple

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Michael
I have a personal testimony that Baptism for the dead is a true principle. Many spirits who have passed on accept and are thrilled that they are having the opportunity to be Baptized and to receive the other Temple ordinances. Show more Show less
