Hi I'm Amanda

I am a mother of seven living in the upper midwest. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I come from a family with five children. My family moved around often while I was growing up living in Utah, New York, Georgia, New Mexico, and Colorado. My parents have been divorced for almost 10 years. I meet my husband in Colorado; where we were married in the Denver Temple 12 years ago. We now live in Southwest Minnesota with our 7 children. I love music and I am currently trying to teach myself how to play the guitar. I can pluck out the melody of songs, but I can't play chords yet. My left hand just can't quite reach the different positions. I play the piano when I need a break and I love to read good books.

Why I am a Mormon

My family have been members since the church was restored. I am still an active member because I know that my Heavenly Father lives and loves me. I can see his hand in everything I do. When I read the Scriptures and learn about Jesus Christ and the miracles that he performed, I can feel the Holy Ghost confirming the truthfulness of the scriptures to me. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know who I am. Joseph Smith saw them both and they spoke to him. The early Pioneers went through a lot for their faith, but it made them that much stronger. Living out here in the upper Midwest, there aren't very many members. Living the gospel allows me the opportunity to share my testimony with others. I know that Jesus Christ died for me and that He was resurrected and now He lives.

How I live my faith

I serve in our branch in the Primary which is for children ages 18 months-12 years. I am the Primary President. Our branch is small, but we have an active Primary. I love teaching the children songs about our Savior and his teachings. watching the children learn and then use what they learn is awesome. Also in my branch I have sisters that I go and visit monthly. Reaching out to others in service is the best thing to do. It puts everything in your own life into perspective. I love serving and helping the Lord with his church.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

When we have faith in and of Jesus Christ it will bring us closer to our spouses and our families. Elder Bednar gave a talk about how this happens. He said that if we were to draw a triangle with Christ at the top and one spouse on one corner and the other spouse on the other corner as we learn about Christ, follow his footsteps we move closer to him thus we move closer to each other. What is the priesthood?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints answers this question best. The Priesthood is the authority to act in the name of God. Worthy young men when they reach the age of 12 are able to hold the office of Deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood. As the young man ages and remains worthy to hold the priesthood will advance in the different offices of the Aaronic Priesthood and then the Melchezedik Priesthood. With each office somes different responsibilities, which enable the Priesthood bearer and those receiving the Preisthood blessing to grow spiritually. I have learned from personnal experiences that the Preisthood is a wonderful and powerful things. Being able to "act in the name of God" and bless people's lives is a wonderful thing.
