Hi I'm Mary

I grew up in Ridgecrest,CA. I am a wife,mother and grandmother. I am a new convert of 3 years and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 26 1/2 years. I am a mother of 4 and a grandmother of 3. I am a newer convert of 3 years and the only member in my family. I am the owner of a costume rental shop which has been a blast and that I am selling soon to pursue other interests. My idea of a dream vacation is to go on a road trip with my family across America and visiting every "Mom & Pops" and tasting great food and meeting as many interesting people as we can!:)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because.....about 14 years ago our family of six moved from a small town called Ridgecrest, California to Beaverton, Oregon(suburbs of Portland). We moved up here to help a dear pastor friend pioneer a non-denominational church. The church ended up not working out after a year and a half and all of the people who moved with us, moved back to California. So began for me a 9 year journey of seeking God and seeking his church. 3 years ago, on a business trip, I was speaking with a business partner/friend of mine and asking him about his church. I knew he and his family were LDS and I knew they had something special. After I returned home, I couldn't get away from what he told me. It was late one evening that I decided to look up The Book of Mormon online and read it for myself. As I read in 1 Nephi, I felt an overwhelming warmth cover me like a warmed-up blanket, something I had never felt before in all my years of church and being raised in a Christian home. I knew what I read was true. I called my friend and his wife and said I needed to do whatever it took to be baptized. I was baptized two weeks later. There have been so many blessings I have received, prayers that have been answered and impressions and guidance that I have been given to build my testimony since that day. I am very grateful that Heavenly Father helped me to see clearly and daily experience His Gospel and His Church and His Love and that He answers His children's prayers. I feel so much peace, love and guidance each and every day and I long for others to give Him a chance in their lives and receive His love, peace and joy!

How I live my faith

I believe the best way I can live my faith is by following the example of the Savior! His focus was first on His Father's will and glory and not His own. He was compassionate with those He knew and met. He was loving and gracious. He took care of and noticed those in need. He saw people for who they truly were. The ways that I can best live my faith is to daily(moment by moment) seek for Heavenly Father's will in my life and listen to and obey His promptings. To do my best to help my family, friends in my community and ward with their needs. To be a true friend to people by listening to them and being present when they speak. To see people and love them how Heavenly Father does...as His precious children. Always doing my best and being patient with myself and others through life's journey.
