Hi I'm Joe B

I love the outdoors. I'm a pilot. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from BYU with a degree in Economics. I'm married with a kid on the way. I enjoy trying new things and being with my family and my close friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because of the direction, peace, and hope the gospel of Jesus Christ provides me and my family. When I was a senior in high school I really started to question what I wanted in life. I had great friends both who were and who were not members of the church. Each seemed to have their life figured out. I felt like something was missing in my life but couldn't figure out what it was. As I sat in church one Sunday I remember looking up and seeing a young family in another row. The love and respect they felt for each other was so real that I suddenly knew what I wanted most in life. I realized that the only way to get what I wanted was to live the Gospel principles and allow myself to become a better person.

How I live my faith

I go to church each Sunday and make an effort to have family night on Mondays. As a family we have a goal to read the scriptures and pray together each night. We try to be mindful of those at church and in the neighborhood who are in need of any type of service.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Joe B
The Word of Wisdom was a revelation from God through the Prophet Joseph Smith that was given as an answer to questions about health. There are many thoughts and questions about what the Word of Wisdom is or isn't but the main principle is to avoid tobacco, coffee, tea, alcohol, illegal drugs or anything else that can cause addiction. Anything taken to an extreme is usually not healthy so members are invited to search their own lives and through prayer and the guidance of the Spirit, identify and avoid anything that they feel is taking control of their life from them. The whole purpose behind the Word of Wisdom is to help us be more alert and responsive to the promptings and voice of the Spirit of God; for that is the way He communicates directly to us everyday!
