Hi I'm Steve

I'm an educator, I'm a father, I'm a musician and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First and foremost, I'm a husband and a father of 4! I am a High School Spanish teacher, a musician and a lover of baseball. I enjoy playing the guitar, bass and drums. I'm a HUGE Angels fan and have been one since I was 8. I have a master's degree in Spanish Literature, Linguistics and Civilization, with a bachelor's degree in Psychology.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be one. I did grow up in the faith, but it wasn't until I was a missionary where I truly was converted. I remember in the first few weeks of learning how to be a missionary I realized that we were teaching others about the gospel. Many times in our testimonies we say "I know that this church is true". But I really began to ask myself if I really did believe it was true. All who read from the Book of Mormon are invited to pray and ask God if the things are true. Well I did. Initially I didn't feel any different, I wasn't sure if I even got an answer. But a couple of days later I was reading and came across a passage in the book of Mosiah. It reads: "Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend". After reading this passage, I felt something inside, it was like I was all of a sudden excited about something. All I could think was "That's it! That's my answer. God answered my prayer!" The scripture helped my realize that I don't have to have all the answers, man cannot understand all that God does, we just have to believe in him and have faith in him. And I finally knew in my heart that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. People have tried to tell my that I'm wrong and that I just hope it's true and the feelings I had were just thoughts I gave myself and it's all in my head, but my internal response is, "They don't know what I felt. I do. I will not deny it."

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everywhere, even though it's hard sometimes and I fail miserably. I am so lucky to be able to work with the missionaries and to teach people the gospel. I love to answer questions about the church and bear my personal testimony of the gospel. I have also worked in the past with the children and have even taught classes to the men. As a school teacher, it's hard to discuss the church and have been told that I shouldn't volunteer too much information about it in class, I am always willing to answer questions about it when asked.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Steve
We believe that He suffered and died for our sins and only through Him can we return and live with Him and our Heavenly Father again after this life. We believe wholeheartedly that Jesus Christ IS the son of God. Show more Show less
