Hi I'm Rick

I am happily married. I am the father of 6 children. I love the game of basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My family has always been the passion of my life. I grew up the 3rd of 4 boys. As I grew up, I loved playing basketball. Basketball was all I dreamed about as a young boy. I was also an artist. I painted oil paintingsof all my basketball heroes like Magic Johnson, Julius "Dr. J" Erving, David Thompson, Daryl Dawkins and others. My parents would take me to pro games in Portland or Salt Lake. My paintings were my ticket to get into the locker room where each of these athletes would sign my painting and visit with me. When I graduated from highschool I went to Rick's College to play basketball. When I was 19 I was called on a mission to serve in Michigan. When I was 27 I met my wife, she was the most beautiful girl I had ever met. We are now the parents of 6 beautiful chidren, they are the joy of my life. I now coach my boys basketball and other sports. I also use my art talent as "Art Dad" in school. Each year I also entertain the kids at the elementry school as Cowboy Roy. Cowboy Roy rides a scooter with a horse head on the handle bars. Cowboy Roy tells silly jokes and teaches the kids to dance. But their highlight is seeing Cowboy Roy shoot the principal with silly string.

Why I am a Mormon

I am the father of 6 kids. My wife and kids are the greatest treasure of my life. They mean the world to me. The gospel truth that I can be together with my family for eternity is to me one of the most exciting teachings of the Mormon church. We live in a world of turmoil and strife. The fact that we are led by a modern-day Prophet is a great comfort to me and my family. To realize that the Heavens are open and that Heavenly Father communicates to His children today through a living prophet is a priceless gift. I also have a testimony that the Book of Mormon is true. The Book of Mormon is a history of the inhabitants of the American Continent and of God's dealings with the people here on the American Continent. Together with the Bible they testify that Jesus is the Christ. Becasue I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I feel I have a closer relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. I have a stronger desire to follow him and keep his commandments. If you are reading this you are probably someone I cared enough about, that I asked you to visit this site. I would exhort you to study the teachings of this gospel and pray to find out if the teachings of the Mormon church are true. I know for me and my family it has brought me more joy, peace, and happiness than you could ever imagine.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow the Savior's example. I try to be a good husband and a great dad. I had wonderful parents and I try to be as good of a parent to my kids as my parents were to me. I try to be a good citizen in our community and serve the kids of our community as a coach and volunteer at school. I try to live all the of Heavenly Father's commandments the best I can. When I make mistakes I try to repent and do better.
