Hi I'm Heidi

I'm a mom. I'm a photographer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town and then moved to the big city in high school. I went to college and earned my bachelor's in Human Development and Family Studies. I met my amazing husband while in college and got married. A few years later we started a family and I spend my time raising them. My hobby is my photography business that I have been doing since I graduated from college. My family also loves to geocache, go on day trips to do fun things around our city, have BBQ's, camp, and play games.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the church and at sometime in our life we have to find our own testimony of the truth. That moment came for me when I was 17 years old, I was sitting in Carthage jail in Carthage, Illinois, where Joseph Smith was murdered. In that moment I knew everything I had been taught was true and firmly believed that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, that we have a Heavenly Father who loves, that Jesus Christ really did fulfill the atonement for each one of us, and that the Book of Mormon is an inspired book. I remember what that moment felt like with the Holy Ghost bearing witness to me that it was all true and on hard days, I think about that moment so that I can feel that wonderful feeling again. I continue to follow the gospel not just because I believe it, but for my family. I want to teach them the gospel and help them build their own testimony, so that they will be able to feel that happiness that I feel from having the gospel in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving those around me. I currently work with the youth in the church and I get the greatest joy out of serving them. I love teaching them about the gospel and then watching them apply it to their lives and see their faith grow. I recently heard a wonderful talk at church about how we are a group of people and sometimes others do not feel like they are a part of the group or are not outgoing enough to just join the group themselves. After hearing that talk, I decided that by being friends with everyone and loving those around us we can help them feel a part of the group. So that is another way I try to live my faith, by being friends with others and showing love to them because we all need a friend.
