Hi I'm Candice

I love reading. I love chips and salsa. And I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I absolutely love anything to do with water. Especially boating! My favorite things include camping, hiking, swimming, and being with my family. My favorite memories are when I am enjoying God's creations with the people I love most. When I am enjoying the great outdoors and beautiful nature scenes, I can't help but feel the love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have for everyone in the world. It is so humbling and I always feel so at peace. I just love being outside. I also love spending time with my husband (that is a given!). We do everything together and I love it that way. I am so grateful I get to spend time with my best friend doing the things I love most. We read books, travel, play games, and hang out with friends. It's a good time. We have no children, but we are hoping that will change within the next year or so. I will be finishing school...at the end of this semester!!! I will graduate in Parks and Recreation. Coolest major ever. I get paid to play. :) Life is so good! I have the best friends in the program, and have had some incredible experiences gaining my education. I love school and I am sad to be finishing. Yet, it will be good to move on with life and start a family soon.

Why I am a Mormon

I love this gospel - the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love the feeling I get when I am serving others, and when others serve me. This gospel teaches all to follow after the Savior's example and to be like Him in everything we do, say, and even think. I know we all fall short of that expectation, because He is perfect and we are not. But I also know that I can be forgiven of my sins when I repent with a sincere heart. We all can be forgiven. I know other churches teach this principle, but they don't understand the true nature of the Atonement and what Christ suffered in order for us to be saved. I know that if I try to do my best to be like Him, I will live a happy life, no matter what trials may come. Sure, trials are difficult, but I can turn to my older brother Jesus Christ, and ask for His help because He understands everything we go through and the pain we feel. I know that these things are true because the Spirit has testified of its truthfulness to me. I also want to bear my testimony about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I have read this book many times, and each time I have read it, I have the Spirit witness to me that it is true. The first time that I read it on my own, I asked to know for myself if it was true. I prayed in my heart to find out, and immediately I had a wonderful feeling come over me. It was such a strong feeling that I have no doubt in my mind about its truthfulness. I love the Book of Mormon and the lessons we can learn from it. If the Book of Mormon is true, then I know without a doubt that the Prophet Joseph Smith was called of God. He was the instrument in God's hands that helped restore the gospel to the earth at this time. It is because of his humble question, to know what church was true, that we are now enjoying the blessing of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It always amazes me that a 14-year-old boy had a question about religion, and that he had the inspiration to ask God what was truth. And then the first vision happened. I know it happened. Everytime I read Joseph Smith's account of seeing God the Father and Jesus Christ, the Spirit has testified to me that this really did happen. I am so grateful for the Prophet Joseph, and for his willingness to find the truth. It all occurred because of a simple verse in James, and a humble question from a 14-year-old farm boy. And now we have the restoration of the true gospel because of him. I am so grateful for this. I also know that President Monson is our living prophet today. He is given modern revelation from Heavenly Father in order to guide this church. No other church on earth has modern revelation. When we had our solemn assembly to sustain President Monson in as our prophet, I felt this peaceful and uplifting feeling in my heart, and I knew that he was a prophet of God. I know that he is an inspired man, and that he follows the counsel of God Himself. I know that these things are true. I have not had one specific moment that have taught me these truths - but I have had many moments that testify that this gospel is true. By small and simple things are great things brought to pass. I know this gospel true and I love it dearly.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my calling. First of all, I LOVE being a part of visiting teaching. Is there a better way to serve AND make friends?! I don't think so - but I absolutely love visiting teaching! I know it can be difficult to schedule apppointments, but it has been such a rewarding experience. By getting to know the girls I serve I have made some great friends. On top of making friends, it is wonderful to have gospel and spiritual discussions with others. I feel a renewed sense to do better after I do my visiting teaching. I also love serving in the ward as the Activities Chairman for our group of girls who attend the ward. I get to see service in action! We plan and prepare spiritual and fun activities, and in the process, we see the sisters in the ward bond. I love these activities and being a part of this sisterhood of loving friends and neighbors. Every year during the summertime, our ward has popcorn night every Sunday evening. This is a time for all ward members to come and socialize at a certain house designated in the ward. We would meet in at this house and everyone would bring a treat to share. During the summertime, people are less busy because only a few are in school, whereas most work during the summer to save up for next semester. We would all sit out on the lawn and socialize together. It was a great time to be with ward friends and to discuss gospel topics in such a fun way. It was a great experience for all those who attended.
