Hi I'm Tammy

I live in a small city in a rural area in the USA. I am happy to be a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married and a mom of 3 grown children. I have a college degree in Spanish teaching, ESL and Social Studies. I love to learn new things (especially languages). I love dogs & horses. I enjoy sewing, making beaded jewelry, watching movies about other cultures or time periods, and eating healthy food.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I've received answers from prayers that let me know this is what God wants me to be. I know the Book of Mormon is true. The first time I read it, I felt as if I'd read it before; it was familiar. I felt filled with light. I felt that God knew who I was. I prayed about the Book of Mormon then and received a feeling of light, warmth and truth that filled my body. I have read it many times since and still feel that. I have read the whole Bible and also know that it is the word of God. It goes right along with the teachings in the Book of Mormon. I have also prayed to know for myself if Joseph Smith, Jr. was a prophet and if he really did see God, the Father, and Jesus Christ. He did. I have felt that answer too. The more I study the scriptures, the more I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true.

How I live my faith

I am a public school teacher. I teach English as a second language. I also run a club for children to learn Mexican Folkloric dancing. For church, I serve in whatever I am asked to do: lead the music for the women's organization (Relief Society), substitute teach the children's classes (Primary). Also I am a visiting teacher. That means that each month I am to help, teach, and watch over two women that are members of our church. I love being a "shepherd" over these two women. They inspire me.

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

The church is for all people, members or not, to worship Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. All people are welcome & wanted. The temples are the most sacred of places on earth. They are for members in good-standing to participate in ordinances that help Heavenly Father's children progress. Anyone who wants to meet the requirements (membership & keeping the commandments) & who has a deep need to be close to God can enter also. Show more Show less
