Hi I'm Doug Spaulding

I'm the national sales director for and education products company and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the father of 3 and I have 7 wonderful grandchildren. My relationship with my wife and family are very important to me. I love baseball too! I work during the baseball season as an usher for the Seattle Mariners. The highlight of our summers are family outings. We love to go to Ocean Shores for the kite festival and of course an evening at Safeco field is a required summer event.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the church by two young missionaries over 40 years ago. They knocked on our door on a hot summer afternoon. They looked like they were going to melt! LOL So I let them in and gave them something cool to drink. In return they shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with me. It was a life changing event. After serveral lessons, I knew the church was true. I was baptised in September. I was 17 and a senior in high school.

How I live my faith

Currently I co-teach the gospel doctrine class during Sunday School. This class covers the 4 standard works of the church (Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants). This year we are studying the New Testament learning about the Jesus, his mission and his church. At work, my coworkers know that I am a church member. I have been employed by the same company for 23 years, so it's no secret to them that l am a Mormon. I'm the guy at the company functions that is always the designated driver :)

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Doug Spaulding
After I joined the church, an uncle who I love and respect, approached me about me joining this "Mormon cult". At first I was hurt, but I soon realized that many people aren't sure who Mormons really are. We are not a break off from another church so they aren't sure how to catagorize us. We have a stong sense of community within the church. In fact we often refer to our "Ward Family" and much of life is tied to our those people who share our faith. But membership in the church is open to everyonge. I want everyone to know that the foundation of our church is Jesus Christ. This is His church. He has invited us all to come and follow him. So those who are looking for the truth, who want to know of His love and his plan for you can join us. If you will ask our Heavenly Father in faith, He will answer you through the power of the Holy Spirit. Being a Moron has brought me closer to God and His son Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

Doug Spaulding
We believe that we are spirit children of our father in heaven. We came to earth to receive bodies and have a mortal experience. When we die we will return to Him. Show more Show less

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Doug Spaulding
Our eternal spirits are housed in our bodies. When we are resurrected our body and spirit are reunited. So you see our spirit resides in our body, so it is the temple for our spirit. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?
