Hi I'm Valena

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My family is the most important thing in my life. I love my husband, Wayne more with every passing day. Without his love and support I would be nothing. He gives me the strength and desire to become a better person, not just for him, but for myself. Our two beautiful, daughters are the center of our lives and the reason we work so hard every day. I spend my days doing typical mom stuff like cleaning and changing diapers and playing with my kids. I really enjoy exercising, especially Zumba and running, and making things with my hands, like scrapbooking and cooking. But I find that I am happiest when I am surrounded by those that I love, especially my friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the things that are wrong, that we forget about all the good things in life. There is a lot of evil out there, but the good is so much more powerful then the evil. When you do something good you are filled with hope, faith and a sense of purpose. I love that feeling! I live for that feeling! Knowing that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father gives me all the hope that I need to ignore the bad things and help me to fill my life with the good things. Through my Savior, Jesus Christ, I can overcome all the bad things in this life. I can fill my life with the good things that He has directed me to do and I can have that wonderful feeling of peace and joy every day. That is the purpose of us being here on this earth, “men are that they might have joy” 2 Nephi chapter 2, verse 25.

How I live my faith

Faith isn't just something that you have, it is something that you live. Your actions should emulate Christ in all that you do. We are commanded to be perfect, but it is an overwhelming task that we cannot accomplish alone. We can only become perfect through the Atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I start every morning with a prayed asking Heavenly Father to help me to live according to His precepts and for the guidance of the Spirit to direct me to do His will in all things. I read the scriptures as often as I can, morning and night with my kids, my husband and on my own. The Spirit that it brings into my life helps motivate me to be a better person. The purpose of us coming to this earth is so that we can become like our Heavenly Father, so I try to be more like Him everyday. I make small goals and work on them every day. By accomplishing these goals a little at a time I don't fell overwhelmed by my inadequacies. Instead I am filled with a sense of purpose and happiness as I realize the accomplishments that I have made to become more like my Savior. Although I am not there yet, I am getting closer to perfection with each goal that I accomplish because of my faith in Jesus Christ.
