Hi I'm Jimmy.

I'm a Mormon. I live in Clinton, Mississippi.

About Me

I have lived in Clinton, Mississippi most all of my life. I graudated from Clinton High. After graduating, I spent one and a half years studying at Ricks Junior College in Rexburg, Idaho. I then served a two year mission in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It was an amazing experience, and I was honored to work and serve with the Brazilian people. They will always be a part of who I am. After my mission, I returned to Ricks which had then transitioned into a four year university named BYU-Idaho. I loved every minute at BYU-Idaho. I made friends and had experiences that I will never forget. I even loved walking in the snow to class. During my senior year, I met my future wife. We were married the day before I graduated college in the Logan, Utah temple. I graduated BYU-Idaho with a degree in English. After graduation, we moved to Clinton, Mississippi--back home for me. After a couple of armadillo and possum hunting trips, I convinced my wife that Mississippi is an amazing place to live. A few years after moving home, I graduated with a law degree from Mississippi College School of law. My wife and I have three sons. We also have two dogs (Cheeto and Tank) as well as two cats--Billy and Rico. If you are wondering, our creative sons picked out our pets' names all by themselves. I love camping, fishing and playing most any game with my boys. I also still love playing basketball with my Dad and brothers. Family is my most prized possession.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were mormons. my grandparents were mormons. My great grandparents were mormons. My great great grandparents were mormons, etc... But, that is not why I am a Mormon. I am a mormon, because I have read the Book of Mormon and felt the Holy Ghost confirm its truthfullness to me. I have heard our living prophet (Thomas S. Monson) speak, and have felt the Holy Ghost confirm in my mind and heart that he is God's prophet. In John 7:17, it says, "if any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." In other words, I am not a Mormon because of the testimony of my parents, the missionaries or my friends. I am a Mormon, because I have read, studied and prayed for myself. I know that we can all know of the truthfullness of the Book of Mormon, that we have a prophet on earth and that Families can be Forever for ourselves. We can all study and learn for ourselves.

How I live my faith

In my ward, I have the opportunity to work closely with the youth. I love being able to spend time with the youth whether it is on a campout, temple trip or playing kickball. The youth are so much fun, and constantly teach me how important the little things are in life. The youth grow up much quicker than they think, and it is fun to watch them become who they are through a series of seemingly small, yet important choices.
