Hi I'm James

I’m from New Mexico, love big-band jazz, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband to a loving and beautiful woman and work as a marketer for an IT company. Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong, John Coltrane, and Arturo Sandoval are some of my favorite jazz artists. I have an undergrad in Global Marketing and feel that education is a life-long pursuit. I enjoy the outdoors, history, current events, travel, studying the culture and language of China, and spending time with my sweet wife.

Why I am a Mormon

The teachings of Jesus Christ have helped me better understand who I am and what I have the capacity to become. Through prayer and the Holy Spirit, I have learned for myself that this is Christ's Church on the Earth today. I know that Jesus lives and that He wants us to live with Him again. He called prophets and apostles, just as He did anciently, to help lead this Church and guide us safely home again.

How I live my faith

I spend a lot of my time with the youth group of our local congregation. We do community service, play sports, go camping, visit companies and develop different skills and talents to help equip them with the tools to succeed in an increasingly competitive world. The best preparation I can give them is an understanding of who they are and how they can strengthen their relationship with God. This is done not just on Sunday, but in many of the activities we participate in during the week. For me, Sundays are a day to be spiritually rejuvenated after a long week. Life can be pretty demanding, but the time spent on Sunday away from work and other obligations helps me clear my thoughts and gain some much needed rest. When I’m not at church, my time is spent with family, neighbors, friends, or in quite meditation. Where I really enjoy our Sunday services, I believe it's also important that we put into practice during the week the things we learn on Sunday. That can be overwhelming at times, and I know I’m far from perfect, but I have confidence that the Lord will help me as I do my best to keep His commandments.
