Hi I'm Kathleen

I'm afraid of cats... but I'm not afraid of llamas! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey! I'm from California. I love to play sports, cook, read, crochet, watch old movies, sing and play board games. I work at an elementary school with 2nd graders and so far its not too bad! =) I'm pretty tall: sometimes it has its advantages...other times it frustrates me. I come from a big family and I loooove it! My favorite food is ice cream.... I will eat just about anything except seafood. My life is always changing... stay tuned in for new developments!

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ has been a huge blessing in my life. It has given me a family that I love, purpose to my life and the things I do on an everyday basis and answers to my questions. It has taught me to be grateful for the miracles that I have been blessed with, great and small. It has even taught me to be grateful for my trials, as crazy as that sounds! My life is not perfect but I know that my Savior loves me. The best way I can show my love for Him is to love others and do what is right, whether the world thinks I should or not.

How I live my faith

I was recently asked to teach the New Testament in our Sunday School class. It has given me the opportunity to study the scriptures in more depth and to learn about the life of our Savior and what He would like us to do. He spent His life teaching and serving others. The best way we can show our love for Him is to do the same. I don't always make the best decisions. But I have the scriptures and words of the prophets to rely upon and to learn by so that I can know what I should do. The teachings of our Savior give me hope and influence my decisions for good.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

What are Mormon women like? I eat chocolate, get sassy, watch cheesey movies and buy shoes just like many other women not of our faith. There are some ways that we are different. I look to my mother as the kind of woman I want to be: quiet, modest (in speech and dress), clean speech, loving, a teacher, strong in her convictions and devoted to God and family. My mother gave up a lot to have ten children, but it was her choice. I ask her if she ever regretted having so many kids but she always said that it was God and her family that sustains her through the hard times. It is often emphasized in this church that God took a rib from Adam to make woman. A rib is on the side of man, exactly where a woman should be. They walk side by side through life making decisions together. If anything I think that the women in this church are put on pedestals. My father as well as my brothers treat their wives with respect and love, knowing that these remarkable women are their eternal companions as well as the beautiful mothers of their children.
