Hi I'm Kali

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 15 years old and I know the Lord loves & blesses me.

About Me

I grew up in Northern California and graduated from Brigham Young Univeristy Hawaii, majoring in International Cultural Studies- Communications. I enjoy sports (both watching and playing) and baking/cooking (who doesn't love food!).

Why I am a Mormon

My sister and I made friends in High School with Mormons because they knew how to have clean, wholesome fun! We would go to church dances or hang out at friend's houses. I appreciated their good examples and the positive peer pressure my friends offered. I attended a girl’s camp through the Church where we learned camping/survival skills and also learned about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I felt so much joy, warmth, and comfort when I would listen to the lessons about Jesus Christ and other church member’s testimonies. I prayed for myself to know if I should be baptized because I felt that what I was being taught was true. I have never felt happier than when I am at church, praying, or reading the scriptures. Learning about the purpose of life truly changed my perspective and attitude. It has made me a stronger and more positive person. I know that this is the Lord's true church, restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that I have an eternal Father in Heaven who loves me and his son Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. The Holy Ghost guides me as I strive to keep the commandments, the greatest two being: to love the Lord my God with all my heart, soul, and mind and to love my neighbour as myself (Matthew 22:37-40).

How I live my faith

I try to always remember: What would the Savior do? As long as I am trying my best and being honest in all that I do I know that the Savior will help me through the day. And for those moments when I do not do as he would, I ask for forgiveness and try to resolve to be better. I know I am not perfect, but that does not mean that I do not strive to be perfect. I have the opportunity to serve members in my ward by visiting with sisters who need someone to uplift them, volunteer with activities, and give Sunday School lessons at church. I also offer to help co-workers or friends who are not members of my faith, whether it be babysitting, moving, or just going out for a girl’s night! There are so many ways we can be a blessing in the lives of those around us.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The missionaries are there to share about Heavenly Father's plan for his children: Where we came from, Why we are here, and Where are we going. They will listen to you and share what we believe. You can ask specific questions that you may have. They will always encourage you to reflect back on what they taught you, think about how it makes you feel, and to pray to know that what they have taught you is true or not. Show more Show less
