Hi I'm Leanne

I grew up in Colorado but spent every summer in Texas. I moved to Texas as soon as I could. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi I'm married to the great Love of my life. I'm a mom to eight grown children, a granny to eighteen. In May I'll be graduating with a teachers certification in Agriculture. In 2004 I got a A.A.S. in Farm and Ranch Management, then continued on to get Bachelors in Agronomy and Agribusiness. The opportunity came up so I could get my certification and I took it. I want to teach not just children but whole families to grow what they eat. As I watch the world turn further and further away from G-d the more I see the need for families to be prepared.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was thirteen years old I had a major crush on Jay Osmond. My father had a friend who was a member, not a good one but a member none the less, so he asked if there was some one that could come and talk to the family about the church. At the time my dad was a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church, our roots are in Judaism, so my father encouraged us to find our way. There were two widowed sisters that came to teach the lessons. They showed us a series of slide shows and answered our questions. When a couple of months have passed the asked my father if he was ready to become of Christian? That question ended the lessons and I was told I could attend the LDS services as long as I attended church with the family. Lucky for me Sacrament at the nearest ward didn't start until after we got home on Sunday. So this is what I did until I left home. I joined the W.A.C.s and continued in the church without being baptized. I wanted my father's blessing. This continued until Christmas of 1989 when my father finally said I should go ahead and that he couldn't believe I honored him so much that I waited for him to give his consent, my father died that following November. On the 28th of December of 1989 I joined. I know now as I have know since the moment I read the Book of Mormon I knew that this church is true. That it is lead by a true Prophet of G-d. The comfort I feel from the blessings of the church are beyond measure.

How I live my faith

I'm so lucky I get to be the Librarian. With the blessing of the new Bishopric it is getting to be as user friendly as possible for the whole congregation not just those who teach. We are gathering books that help in preparedness. I'm gathering information on gardening, sewing, knitting, canning and first aid. This to me is such a blessing that it allows me to not just help the ward but share some of the things I love such as farming and sewing. One of my dearest friends works with the young woman's group and got me involved in their camp last summer it was great fun. So we are going back this year.
