Hi I'm Gem

I'm an ABA Therapist, a cupcake baker and enthusiast, a wife who's crazy about my husband and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into the gospel to a loving family with 3 awesome older sisters and the best mom and dad. I grew up in a small town just outside of London and was the only mormon in my school growing up. For that reason I had to be the best example I could be, and I was tried and tested by my peers but I wouldn't have changed those experiences for anything because they gave me the strength to stand up for my beliefs and to let my testimony of Jesus Christ grow. By the time I reached unviersity, I was ready to share with the world that I was a mormon and that it makes me so happy each and every day. I love to travel, and have an unhealthy obsession with America! It is my life goal to have seen every state in America before I die and one day I hope to find myself living in the good old Californi-a. I love exploring new countries and marvelling at this wonderful world Heavenly Father created for us. It confirms what I already know, that he lives, that he loves us, and that if we follow his commandments we can return one day to live with him again.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a loving home where I was raised in the gospel. Thanks to a tired missionary on a hot summer's day in South Africa, who fainted as he walked down the path after being turned away by my great grandparents, he ended up being invited back in and he taught my great grandparents the gospel - I am so grateful to that missionary! I know Heavenly Father placed him in the path of my lovely great grandmother who showed compassion towards him in his time of need! and in return they were blessed with the fulness of the gospel. I know this church is true, it makes me amazingly happy to be a member and to know that the fulness of the gospel was restored through our prophet Joseph Smith. I know that Thomas S. Monson is our living prophet, who leads and guides our church today and is such a fantastic example of selfless service. I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers my prayers, he blesses me on a daily basis and I know Jesus Christ atoned for my sins so that one day I can return to live with them both again if I live righteously and worthily obey the commandments. I know that families are forever and I am so grateful for that knowledge and that I get to be with my fantastic husband and family for eternity!

How I live my faith

I am the Primary President in the small branch here in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. The church has only been on the Island for less than 2 years so it's not that well known among people here. Coming from England, it's very different to be so unknown. So we try and share our faith with those around us at every opportunity we can. It's great though that no matter where you go in the world you can always find the Church and always have a ready made group of family and friends waiting to welcome you. I follow President Monson's example of expressing selfless service at every opportunity. One of my favourite hymns is 'Have I done Any Good' and every day I try and live out the lines from that song. I know as I do this I am following the footsteps that Jesus himself has laid down for me.

Are Mormons Christians?

Gem
Absolutely yes! We are very much Christians in every sense of the word. Christian = follower of Christ. Do we believe in Jesus Christ? yes. Do we believe that he died on the cross for us? yes. Do we believe he was resurrected? yes. Do we believe he is the son of God? yes. Do we believe in the whole of the new testament, a testament of his life? yes. Do we try and strive every day to walk his way and be more like him? YES! We are Christian through and through. Show more Show less
