Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a spirit Daughter of God who has meaning purpose and direction in this life.

About Me

Hello! I am a seeker of truth. I have been happily married for 24 years, yes we have had our ups and downs as most couples do yet we have learned that these make our bond stronger. I am a mother of 2 adult children, a daughter who is currently inactive and a son that is on a mission. (how did that all happen? :) I am a elementary school counselor. I love to spend time with my family and friends, read, exercise, hike, cook, meditate and pray. I was born in the covenant to parents who were converts. My mother stayed active however my father became inactive when I was about 10.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that the doctrine and principles of this church are the true precepts of Christ. I believe that as I strive to live as Christ lived that I will experience a peace and joy that is indescribable with words. I have had manifestations through prayer and meditation that let me know the answers to questions I had been asking. I received an understanding that there is a God and that he is here to help me in all aspects of my life as I draw close to him. It has been impressed on me with clarity that Joseph Smith received revelation from God in the same way that I can to guide my life and purpose. I love the unity that is present in this church and the opportunities for service and spiritual growth. I feel a bond with our Prophet Thomas S. Monson and completely trust our Prophets and Apostles to guide and direct us in a direction that will bring peace, joy and happiness to the members and the world. What a comfort it is to know that God has trusted individuals to help us all along on our journey in this life. He is here for us in so many ways.

How I live my faith

I feel as if I have just begun to live my faith with true propose and direction and it brings me more joy that I could have possibly imagined. I believe that this has come to me in part as I have sought truth with a true and pure desire and also as one of the many blessings of having a son on a mission. I have a strong unwavering desire to let go of all the habits and beliefs that limit my ability to experience joy and happiness. This is a process, I continue to miss the mark at times yet I know that through forgiveness and repentance I can take aim and shoot for the mark again, learning valuable lessons each time I shoot. Therefore I have begun to listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost and I am getting my "house" in order. I am reading the Book of Mormon with intent to learn and understand the guidance and truths that are contained with it. At times I feel as if God is speaking to me while reading and I pray for this daily. I have made a promise to meditate and pray daily, read the scriptures and fast and pray monthly. I am working on getting to the Temple on a regular basis for I know that there are blessings that will come as a result of this. These are things that I resisted for a long time, partly due to not quite understanding how to perform all of them meaningfully but also in part to the doubts that infiltrated my mind. I have learned how to filter and challenge these thoughts, create space between me and them and to be guided more often by the spirit. I am a visiting teacher. I love the women I associate with and want to serve them the best I can. I am the canning coordinator in our ward, I help the members to create a living food storage. I love to learn as much as I can about maintaining health through use of raw foods to avoid preservatives, salts, sugars, food colorings and to save money in the process. I am the Laurel Adviser to the lovely Young Women in our ward I attempt to bring a simple understanding to the gospel.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

The term Mormon is a nick name of the church originating from the Book of Mormon. The official name is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" He is the center piece of our religion. He is our exemplar and who we strive to live our lives after. He is our confidant, our support our guide. We believe that he created the earth under the direction of our Heavenly Father. That he created this world for us to have experiences that would help our soul to develop to its highest potential and that he is always here to help us attain joy. We as a religion and I as an individual believe that Through His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and by giving His life on the cross—that is, by performing the Atonement —Jesus Christ saves us from our sins 1 Peter 221 as we follow Him. Because of the Atonement, you can be forgiven of your sins when you sincerely repent Book of Mormon, Mosiah 2630. I had a really hard time with this at first not fully understanding how someone else could save us. I have come to a clarity that it is not as complex as I was trying to make it. That Christ has breathed in all the pain of the world, he has such great love and compassion for us that he wanted to do this and he has breathed out blessings and miracles to us that will help us to come back to our Father in Heaven. We can be forgiven, move past our faults, and repent, turn our hearts and minds to God because of the atonement. What a miraculous gift. This I know is true. Show more Show less
