Hi I'm Cecilly

I am a student who loves Africa, scrapbooking, and blogging.

About Me

I'm a college "kid" studying Business Management my greatest personal accomplishment would be going to Uganda last summer to do volunteer work--it changed my life. I am planning to work in Africa as a career I just see so much POTENTIAL the people are kind, humble, and live such happy, simple lives. I love that. I feel so blessed to live where I do, and I feel like I'm a steward over the opportunities I've had. Time to pass that along.

Why I am a Mormon

This Church makes me so happy. So fulfilled. So content. I grew up in an LDS family, but my parents were both the first in their families to join, so I've always felt kind of "new to this". As a teenager, I held very strong values near to me. That is what kept me from getting into the trouble I saw those around me getting into drugs, alcohol, sex, law issues... The values of honesty, chastity, and integrity have helped me live my life as a good, kind person. The gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints touches me most because it encourages members to live their lives by drawing near to the Savior. With the Savior as the central component in the Church, I feel like any strength and power I am short of is made up by my Savior.

How I live my faith

The most important way to live any faith is to treat all people with dignity and respect, despite religious, political, or lifestyle views. I also help plan activities to help build friendships checking up on each other and ensuring we're all doing alright. Since I'm a college student, I am around people my age doing activities like tutoring kids, playing games, contests, etc. When I go home for breaks, though, I help my mom with the kids in church. That's my favorite! Kids are so cute, fun, and teachable.

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

In the Bible, Christ ministered to the sick and afflicted likewise, welfare services focuses on those who are disadvantaged economically and physically. Help is provided in the form of job networking, something similar to a food bank, and necessities. On a global scale, help is provided after natural disasters in the form of food, clothing, school kits, and newborn baby kits. This help is given to all, not just to Mormons.   Show more Show less
