Hi I'm Becky

I am a school counselor, grandmother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a counselor in a high school. My husband and I have been married for 36 years. My husband and I have 6 grown children, 5 children-in-law, and 13 grandchildren. We currently live in Texas, but our children and grandchildren are scattered around the country and world. As a young mother, I stayed home with my children. But when my youngest started school, I decided that I would too. I was a non-traditional college student. It is never too late to go to college. I taught high school English for five years when I decided to go back to school to get my Master's Degree in school counseling. I continued teaching while going to school. I have been a counselor now for five years.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because the teachings ring true in my heart and in my head. As a counselor, I see a lot of people who struggle with life, trying to figure out who they are and what they should do. Their heads and their hearts don't always agree, and that brings confusion. The gospel of Jesus Christ takes away that confusion. It makes sense.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day by being a Christ-like person. I try to look at all people as children of God. He loves them, and so I do too. This helps me to be more patient when things don't go as desired. It helps me look for the good in people. I think I am also able to forgive more readily because I see people who sometimes make mistakes just like I do, and I know God still loves me, so I can still love others. I'm far from perfect, but I just try each day to do my best to follow my Savior.
