Hi I'm Charlene

I'm a Mother an Olympian and a Mormon. But most importantly, I'm a Daughter of God striving to live worthy that I may return home.

About Me

I am the mother of 6 children and I truly enjoy being a mother. There is sorrow and joy in this calling in life and I wouldn't change that for anything. I believe that of all roles and responsibilities in life, this is the main one. The purpose of it is to raise our children in the Gospel of Jesus Christ that they may know Him and strive to return to Him. I love being fit and active. My husband and I workout almost everyday, along with our children. As a family, we enjoy being outside in God's beautiful nature whether it is going on walks or just playing in the yard. I love to read good books. It's hard to get one out of my hands when I have found a good one. I only read books that my friends and family recommend. I have enjoyed writing poetry also when the opportunity presents itself! I am a graduate of BYU where I was also a 2X All American in the sport of volleyball. I have been blessed with many opportunities to travel the world being a member of the US National Volleyball Team and I also was very fortunate to have competed in the Olympics. The treasures to me from these experiences have been the people I have met along the way and their friendships. It has been eye opening as well to have experienced different cultures of life and different languages. I am married and sealed in the Temple to a wonderful man! This is an eternal family sealing and we strive every day as a family to live the Gospel that we all may return home to live again with our Heavenly family!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have attended church my entire life thanks to my wonderful parents who knew the importance of this and taught it by example. The Gospel is so true in my soul that I know and could never deny where I came from, why I am here, and where I will go after this life. Because of the Gospel, I know who I am. I know that I am a daughter of God, made in His image. I know that he knows me personally and loves me continually and desires for me to return home to Him. I have a knowledge and an understanding of my Savior Jesus Christ and the deep impact the Atonement has in my life and in everyone's life. I can bear Testimony that the Holy Ghost is real and that He can guide us in our lives to make the right choices if we will listen to His promptings. The Gospel is my life. I make choices daily based upon the life, the teachings and the ministry of Jesus Christ. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only church on the earth today with the fullness of the Gospel as it was described in the Bible. It was restored on earth in our time by a man named Joseph Smith. I know that we have a living Prophet, ordained by God, to be his mouthpiece on the earth in these last days. The knowledge that we have been given to return home is simple, but not always easy. But our Father in Heaven has given us the plan of salvation and all the tools that we need that will bring us home. This is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith whether it is Sunday or Wednesday. Whether I am at church, or at the store. Whether I am at home, or at my kiddos school. Whether I am in my neighborhood, community or overseas in another country! This means I attend church on Sundays and visit the Temple often. I live the 10 Commandments, obey the Word of Wisdom and strive to be Christlike by following the examples of Jesus Christ. I read my scriptures and pray to my Father in Heaven. My Father in Heaven has blessed me with gifts and talents which have allowed me to travel the world. I am so blessed to be a part of His Church because which ever country I have found myself in I have been able to attend church. This has truly been a huge blessing in my life. I feel very strongly about the importance of attending church on Sunday's and the blessings that we can receive by doing this. Church is a place where we can be around others with the same goals in this mortal life and can be uplifted and edified by those around us. I take my scriptures everywhere with me! I feel close to my Father in Heaven when I have these Words from Him in my possession! All the answers to our questions can be found in these precious words if we will study and ponder them. To me, living the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not just a Sunday practice, but an everyday practice! It is who I am and it is my life! Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the tool in us returning home to our Father in Heaven when our time on earth is finished.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Families are the focal point of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Everything that we do in The Gospel is to bring our families closer together and in to the Eternities to live with our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ again. Show more Show less
