Hi I'm Steven

Grew up in Maryland. Enjoy traveling and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised as an adopted child in a military family that traveled to many locations around the world. After finishing high school I attended college in Maryland, majoring in Information Systems Management. I have worked for the Government for over 20 years. I enjoyed playing Ice Hockey for my college and played Rugby for several years after college. I have been divorced twice, but I am now happily married to a wonderfully strong and spiritual woman. I have been raising 2 wonderful boys, who are now teenagers. My wife and I are currently seeking to adopt more children to share our love with. My greatest times are those spent with my family whether it be camping, playing games or just sitting around the house watching movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 2007. As a child I did not have any religious preferences and was raised simply to do what was right. As an adult having struggled with many difficulties and trails I was eager to learn more about the meaning of life and felt something lacking deep inside. Through an acquaintance I was encouraged to attend church on a Sunday. I only attended sacrament meeting but really enjoyed the feeling of comfort that I received. I did not attend again for several years. On my second visit to the church I attended all three meetings and was amazed at how the lessons being taught that day seemed to penetrate to my core. The bishop asked if I was new to the ward and if they could get my records transferred from my old ward. I explained to him that I was actually not a member, much to his surprise. Soon after the missionaries began teaching myself and my boys the gospel principles and challenged us to consider being baptized into the church. The gospel lessons taught by the missionaries also resonated within my being and took ahold. Within two weeks we told the missionaries that we were ready to be baptized. I knew the principles that were being taught to be true, I could feel it. I knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is where I belonged and that I could find those truths that I had been so desperately searching for.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through diligent attendance of my church meetings, and constantly fulfilling the duties and callings assigned. My greatest joys come from service to members of the community, whether it be helping someone move in or shoveling snow. I often bring my family along to share in the experience of helping others, it has allowed them to gain a great appreciation for charity shown by others. I have been able to serve as a scout leader for the 11 year old boys, helping them to develop the skills and qualities that they will need to become leaders in their communities.
