About Me

I have 3 kids, two daughters and a son. I love to scrapbook, I make sure to scrapbook at least one picture in each child's book per month. I am half-way to getting my RN but I'm on the waiting list and enjoying the break.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the LDS church all my life. I was babtized when I was 8 years old. But as I became an adult and encountered challanges my faith kept me going and as I turned to the scriptures and prayed to my Heavenly Father I have been able to make it through some very difficult trails.

How I live my faith

My husband and I are currently teaching the nursery sunday school class(kids ages 18 months-3years) of our ward. I am also a visiting teacher, and I love the oppertunity to visit and teach the 2 sisters in the ward that I teach.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

"Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another, observe the commandments of God, and be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations.... By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation." In our own home, we have noticed that our lives are much more peaceful when we followed this cousel from "The family-a proclamation to the world" written by the prophet. There have been times in my married life where we were both working, or both going to school, and our lives were very hectic. I now stay home and my husband is working, and our lives are more relaxed. I was noticing today that now that I am able to stay home with my children, I get to spend more time with them, and talk to them. It was very satisfying to have the time and energy to do that. Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

There are many times in life when trials happen. In my own life, I have encountered struggles such as my husband's paychecks being cut, or my husband being out of work for a period of time, and we were grateful that we had saved enough food and money to take care of our family. You never know what life will thow at you, and it's important to always be prepared. It's very satisfying to be able to sustain your family even when you are going through a tough time. Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes. We do believe the Bible to be the word of God, as long as it is translated correctly. Because the Bible has been translated many times, it is printed in different versions. In English, the King James Version of the Bible is accepted as scripture by the Church. We belive the book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Mormons don't drink Coffee, tea or alchol because we know these substances are bad for our health. We know that God wants us to take care of our bodies. We also know that if we do this we can recieve many other blessings. In 1833 the prophet Joseph Smith prayed and asked God about this matter. The Lord answered his prayer by giving us "The word of wisdom" (contained in Doctrine and Covenants section 89". This word of wisdom asks us to stay away from harmful substances and eat healthy. What is the First Vision?

In the spring of 1820, Joseph Smith was searching for the true Church of Jesus Christ when he read a passage in the Bible: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5). With simple, unwavering faith, Joseph followed the counsel in that passage. He went alone to a grove of trees, where he prayed to know which church he should join. In answer to his prayer, God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him. Among other things, They told him that he should join none of the churches then in existence. This is known as the first vision, because it was the first time that God the Father and Jesus Christ both appeared to Joseph Smith. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

In the time period following the death of Christ, there was a period of Apostsy. The prophets were killed, and the Church was no longer present on the Earth for a long period of time. The Bible was still true, as long as it was translated correctly, but a restoration of The gospel needed to take place so that it could be the same as it was when Christ was alive, complete with prophets, and apostles and modern-day revalation. Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth. We believe in modern revalation. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. God is still teaching us everyday. We don't believe that he stopped his instruction when Jesus died, or when the Bible ended, but that he has many things to teach us, even now. And the prophets and apostles help us, they teach us what God wants us to know now, just as the prophets in the Bible taught the people of the Earth in their day. Show more Show less
