Hi I'm Garry

I'm a husband, father and grandfather. These are my favorite titles.

About Me

My wife and I are the parents of four sons who are either married and have children of their own or, as with our youngest, is serving a church mission. Each member of our family brings us joy because of who they are and the lives they live. As well, loving parents, siblings and delightful nieces and nephews add to our happiness and identity. We are part of something that has no end. The gospel of Jesus Christ creates the potential for joy that goes well beyond what I can imagine. All this is made possible from our loving Father in Heaven, through the atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the ordinances and teachings He has given us. We have the promise of endless blessings to come. In the meantime, I'm grateful for the measure of happiness allotted to me. In addition to family, I work in the field of human resources and serve as a board member of a non-profit organization. I also serve in a bishopric in our ward congregation. Life is full and at times hectic. These are all worthwhile endeavors to contribute to the world around us.

Why I am a Mormon

Spiritual certainty is given by the Holy Ghost and I have received generously of the Spirit to know of God, of the grace of Jesus Christ and of the fulness of Their gospel. The process of personal change, often described as repentance, allows me to have hope to persistently strive for that which matters most. I am aided in my purpose and direction through the guidance of prophets and apostles. I know, through them, the best ways to live my life to enjoy God's direction. There is much to learn and do in this life, and so much that is a waste. We need God's guidance to keep us out of harms way.

How I live my faith

A daily effort of inching toward becoming better than I am now. The desire to improve and change is fuelled by the atonement of Jesus Christ. I have gained hope thereby knowing repentance is worthwhile and, along with Christ's teaching to be charitable, my life's purpose is clear. This lifelong pursuit is a challenging journey and ultimately rests on the grace of Jesus Christ to achieve what I cannot do on my own, even with all the help available to me through the church and good people.
