Hi I'm Marley

I make noise with instruments. I'm tri-lingual. I play rugby. I'm a MORMON.

About Me

I was born and partially raised in Carson, CA. I lived there until I was 10 years old than I moved to Faleniu, American Samoa and lived there for over 3 years and moved my Freshman year in high school (2005) to live in Minnesota. Between all that hopping around, I did brief stints of life in Utah, Arizona, Hawaii, Florida and Alaska. My dad is in the military, but I'm not a military brat. My mom moved around alot with the airlines and that's how we ended up moving to the Midwest. If I were a betting man, I would put money on the fact that our family's "tour of duty" does not end in Minnesota and that there are still more states we have yet to live in. I come from a family that is always on the move, and I wouldn't have it any other way. My family means the world to me. I have been called a Jack of All Trades...but Master of None. Without that tail end, it doesn't sound too bad. Basically, just about everything interests me. If I had to tie myself down to only a few, I'd say music, laughing, and a good game of rugby. I'm always looking for new instruments to fiddle with, I sing more than I speak, and speak more than I think. Believe me, thats not always a good thing. Simply put, lifes definitely too short to not just go out and live it. =D

Why I am a Mormon

I guess you could say its because of two young men who, many years ago, faithfully decided to share the Gospel with my great-grandfather in Samoa. Or maybe accredit it to the fact that my mom made me go to church every Sunday growing up. Personally, I know that its more than that. I'm a Mormon by choice. The choice is not that I "choose" to be a Mormon, or that I "choose" to believe its true. I'm a Mormon because of the choice I made to not deny the truth. I'm a Mormon because I got down on my knees and asked God Himself whether the Book of Mormon is true. God Himself let me know that it is, and that it was translated by a true prophet, Joseph Smith. God wouldn't give a false book to a true prophet, nor a true book to a false prophet. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon, just like the Bible, is a testament of Jesus Christ. Only through the sacrifice that Christ made, can any of us receive true happiness. I know that He died for each and every one of us. He is the one and only perfect example of how to return to live with God again. I know that God loves us so much that He has given us a living prophet to guide us. Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet, not only for our church, but for the world. He holds the same authority as Moses, and Noah, and all of the prophets of old. I know that through the same priesthood authority which they held, it is possible for me to live with my family eternally. This is why I'm a Mormon. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought be so much joy in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day by day. Currently, I'm serving as a full-time missionary for the Church. What a blessing it has been in my life. I get to go out everyday and share this wonderful message that has changed my life. I get to invite people to come unto Christ. Its definitely hard, but I honestly wouldn't give it up for the world. I love the people that I get to meet everyday, and I'm so grateful that I get to help people strengthen their faith. There isn't a day that I don't meet someone who is an example to me of how I can be more like Him. I know that miracles exist simply because I get to witness them all the time. I live my faith by inviting people to come unto Christ; by inviting them to be baptized and make promises with their Father in Heaven.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Well, faith is a principle of action. The only way to increase faith is by doing something. We increase faith by simply following the example that Jesus Christ set for us. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Well, baptism is exactly how Jesus Christ started His earthly ministry. By being baptized, we make a promise with God that we will from that point on try our hardest to be like Jesus. Also, all of our sins until that point are completely washed away. Show more Show less
