Hi I'm Birdie

I'm a junior in college and want to teach English, and I'm a brand new missionary! I will be serving in Baltimore, Maryland!

About Me

My name is Birdie. I'm a college junior and I am going into Secondary English Education. I have been called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I leave for the MTC on January 16, 2013. I love to play the viola as well as violin, and art and literature are constantly shaping my life. The last chunk of my life has been spent working as a CNA, living with five roommates and scraping to get through college and get by. My faith in Christ keeps me going. My family is interesting to say the least, but I love them just the same and hope someday I can be sealed to them for eternity.

Why I am a Mormon

After reading the Book of Mormon, I received a spiritual witness that it is true. I gained a testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, accepting Christ as my Savior and Redeemer. My life is such a blessing. My faith keeps me strong. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

In my particular ward, I am the president of our women's group called the Relief Society. I work to strengthen the faith of my girls as well as plan meaningful service opportunities and fun activities. My goal is to make sure that each of Heavenly Father's daughters know their divine potential and their infinite worth.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Work of Wisdom is a law we know was given by God through revelation given to prophets to keep our bodies and minds strong. We do not drink alcohol, tea, or coffee. We also do not use tobacco or illegal drugs, as these have also been warned against by Heavenly Father. We know that by abiding by this law, we can receive promised blessings. Some of these include, that: "...Saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones; And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures; And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint. And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen." - Doctrine and Covenants 89:18-21 Show more Show less
