Hi I'm Lisa

I grew up in Florida. I am a nutrition major. I love to laugh, sing and dance and scrapbook. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Nevada Las Vegas West mission. I am from Florida so I love the gators and the ocean. I went to school for nutrition and health sciences and will continue that after my mission. I love music and the arts passionately. I am a twin. My family and the gospel of Jesus Christ are the center of my heart and the loves of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the church is true and it is what has given me the greatest happiness and peace in my life. The gospel is what has given me the strength to face all of life's trials and overcome them with greater resilience and confidence than I would have on my own. I do not know how any one could live in this world with out the knowledge and guidance that the gospel of Jesus Christ gives. The testimony that I have of Jesus Christ and the closeness that I feel to Him through learning and living His gospel is my most treasured possesion.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a full time missionary. I am living in Las Vegas and I teach others about the scriptures and the teachings of Jesus Christ. I share my experiences with them and invite them to learn truth for themselves and take actions that will help them to come unto Christ and find greater happiness and peace though doing so. I also look for any opportunities I can to help serve others in this community in any way. God loves all of his children so I am trying to help them see His love for them through me as I am called to serve the people of Nevada.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Lisa
The missionaries activities are funded by the missionaries. They do not get paid for their service, in fact, they pay to do it! Each missionary pays four hundred dollars for each month that they will be serving and it goes towards a missionary pool of funds that is then distributed to pay for the missionaries' housing, transportation and other needs all across the world. Most missionaries work before their missions to save up the money needed or can rely on friends and family to help support them while they go about the Lord's work. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Lisa
There are many faithful and wonderful women of all faiths, the mormon women are no exception. We are taught to have faith and confidence in the Lord and in ourselves. We strive to learn about God and his commandments and then to live them. We are not perfect, but we have a hope that through the atonement of Jesus Christ we may one day be. Mormons absolutely believe in equality of men and women. God's plan and work simply could not function nor go forth without the joint efforts and contributions of both men and women. The Lord loves all of His children greatly no matter thier background, race or gender. We all have infinite worth in the eyes of God. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Lisa
When the missionaries go to peoples' homes they talk about many different things. They teach about how God has called a living prophet to guide the world today and how the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was established. they answer the questions of where we came from, why we are here and where we are going. They teach the commandments of God that he has set forth to help us know Him and to return to live with Him in the kingdom of Heaven when this life is over. Really, the missionaries are there to help answer any questions we can think of and help us to know how to overcome anything that would keep us from coming closer to God. They are representatives of Jesus Christ working to make our world a better place and our lives happier and healthier than ever! Show more Show less
