Hi I'm Michael

I'm serving a mission in Romania, I love watching and playing sports, I love college, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in Utah for nearly my whole life, but that doesn't mean I haven't been around. I've been to 44 states and 6 countries, and I currently live as a missionary in Romania. I was the captain for my high school swim team and also ran hurdles and high jumped for the track team. I'm currently taking a break from college as I serve my mission, but when I return I look forward to finding a major and working towards a career.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family, so I've always been expected to maintain the faith. But my family's expectations aren't the only reason I've stayed with this religion. I love the people in the church, the teachings of the church, the leaders of the church, and Jesus Christ and my Father in Heaven. I have received only blessings through my participation as a member of this Church, and I know that it is the only church on this Earth which has the complete Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have lived my faith by serving in my ward as a teacher and clerk. I have taught members of my ward in their homes as a home teacher, and worked as a financial clerk for my ward as well. I have left my family, friends, and schooling behind to serve a 2 year full-time mission in Romania.

What is being a Mormon like?

Michael
I don't see being a Mormon as something which is extremely different from everyone else. Naturally I don't smoke, drink, or do other things which go against the teachings of this Church, but I go to school, have a job, and interact with people just like everyone else. Of course people who are not members of this Church have always been intrigued by me. Once, on a flight to Alaska, I spent over three hours talking to the man who happened to sit next to me. The fact that I was a Mormon came up, and he began to ask questions. He asked a question about my intent to be a missionary, which really brought up the reason why being a Mormon is so different from other religions. He was intrigued by my decision to pay my own way to serve for the Church, and I realized that this intrigue was quite natural. It is not every day that you will find someone who wants to pay to serve someone, and that is why this Church is different. The people of this Church are very giving. They give time, talents, and money for the Church's causes. I have noticed that being a member of this Church is like being a part of a massive loving family. Everyone cares for each other, everyone helps each other, and everyone is willing to serve for the cause of the greater good. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Michael
We believe that the Holy Ghost is a member of the Godhead. Unlike God the Father and Jesus Christ, though, he doesn't have a physical body and is simply a spirit. The Holy Ghost is important to us because through him God talks to us. If it weren't for the Holy Ghost none of us could know that the Book of Mormon is true, that this church is true, or that Jesus Christ is the savior of the world. He's the guide that God uses to let us know what we need to know to return to Him. The way God speaks to us through the Holy Ghost is through thoughts and feelings. When I personally feel the Holy Ghost it's a peaceful feeling and I have a clear mind. I feel calm and warm in my heart. Because of this we can know that God is confirming a truth to us and we then know that it is important for us to know. Show more Show less
