Hi I'm Jonathan

I'm from a small town in Nevada. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small rural town in Nevada and started school for a semester before I headed off on a two year mission. I come from a medium sized family, and the first of the kids to serve a mission. I've decided that I would like to do something in the medical field, but as to what, I'm still not sure.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Church, but I think it was around 15 or so when I decided that I should probably find out or not if the church was true, and if I wanted to be a part of it. So I did what many of my Sunday School teachers and family members told me to do, I read the Book of Mormon and I prayed about it. I didn't receive a vision, like Joseph Smith, but I knew for sure that the Book of Mormon was true. I felt the Spirit bear witness that it was true, and that is what I needed. From then on, everything in the church just kind of fit into place. I saw the blessings that came from obedience to the gospel, and I started to gain my own testimony of the church. For me, it no longer was people telling me the church was true, but I could tell people that I, for myself, knew it to be true.

How I live my faith

Right now I'm serving a mission for two years to the people of Massachusetts and am loving every day of it. I think a big part of living my faith has to do with service, as my parents taught me pretty good about that. I learned that when you are in the service of your fellow beings, you are only in the service of your God. So I try to keep that in mind, if I see somebody in the store that needs some help, or if I'm walking down the street and think that somebody needs just an extra hand. I try to just give a smile to people that I might see as well, because I like to think that it could have brightened up somebody's day. So that is how I try to live my faith.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are used to provide ordinances for our ancestors. Things such as baptism are needed to return back to our Heavenly Father, but if they lived at a time when the priesthood authority to baptize was not on the earth, then there wouldn't have been a way for them to be properly baptized.
