Hi I'm Jeff

I am a computer programmer, love the outdoors and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities. Hiking, caving, those sorts of activities. I recieved a degree in Computer Science and love being a computer programmer. I enjoy the aspect of creating new programs...maybe it's like an art. Instead of paintings, I create programs! :) I do like to paint too though. I enjoy reading...mostly science fiction/fantasy novels.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church...which is to say that I have been going to this church since my birth. As a younger kid, I didn't really give much thought to what was right for me. My parents took me to church and I went. It wasn't until my late teens when I started to wonder if what I believed was right or not. I remember I was going to serve a mission for the church and I read a scripture that made me realize that I had never truly sought out the truth for myself. I couldn't very well tell other people that if they prayed about the Book of Mormon that the Lord would let them know the truth, considering I hadn't done it for myself. So, I read a portion of the Book of Mormon, thought about what I read and then knealt down to ask God to let me know if it was true or not. I won't go into the details of my experience I had that evening, while kneeling down in prayer, but I will tell you that I recieved a very clear answer that the Book of Mormon is true. In my line of thinking, I decided that if the Book of Mormon was true then Joseph Smith must have been a real prophet. If Joseph Smith was a real prophet then what he said and the church that he established must also be true. The pattern continued on from there. It led me to continue forward to go on a mission and return to continue to do what I feel the Lord wants of me.

How I live my faith

In my service toward God, I have been asked to serve in many capacities. I have served on a regional council that assists the regional leader (the regional leader's title is "Stake President"). I have also served as a Bishop, which would be considered the spiritual leader of a church...similar to a Minister or Pastor. Currently, I am working with our young single adult members.
