Hi I'm Warren

I'm a Mormon, a disciple of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I'm a retired postal worker (Rural Carrier), married for 43 years, and we have 3 sons. I'm a DIY'er and spend much of my time "feathering our nest". I'm also a poet,(un-published) which I do for the entertainment of family and friends. I love to read, and especially enjoy Kipling and Steinbeck. I'm a native of Connecticut, the 3rd of 7 children. We were farmers and dad taught us to "Fix it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without" So I have learned how to be self sufficient to a great degree.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church while in the Marine Corps (Air Wing). I was led to investigate the church due to the excellent example of three fellow Marines in the Squadron. I was referred to the missionaries, and when they related the story of Joseph Smith's experience in the sacred grove, I received an immediate verification of the Spirit that what they had just told me was true. I continued to meet with them over the next several weeks, and I was baptized in Nov. of 1963, 47 years ago and counting. My testimony of this church has only grown more solid over the years and I can say without mental reservation or purpose of evasion that Jesus Christ lives; that He has restored His church to the earth again with all the power and authority necessary to prepare the earth for his second coming which I believe is going to be in the not very distant future.

How I live my faith

I have served in many capacities in the church over the years, and my present calling is as Assistant Clerk over Membership in our local unit (Ward). I keep our computerized membership records up-dated; marriages, births, deaths, moves in and out of the Ward, etc. My wife and I have served as missionaries four times; each as a single person, and thrice as a married couple. These years have provided some of the best experiences of our lives, and several life-long friends.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

When the church was restored in 1830, The Prophet Joseph Smith received several revelations relating to spreading the Good News of the Restoration to all the world, since God is no respecter of persons; i.e. He loves all of His children equally, and desires that all should be given the opportunity to join. We presently proselyte in every country where we are allowed to go, or it is safe to do so. Show more Show less

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

To be very candid about it, we practised it because the Lord commanded the church to do so. We believe that Joseph Smith was called by the Lord to restore the ancient church and the authority that goes with it. He was given that authority by the laying on of hands of those who held that authority anciently; i.e. John the Baptist, Peter, James and John, Elias, and Elijah. Joseph was called under their hands to be the first prophet of the newly restored church. He was given numerous revelations as to how the church was to be organized, and how the ordinances were to be performed, etc. For reasons unknown to us, He was commanded to re-establish the ordinance of polygamy to the earth. When the U.S. Government outlawed the practice the church received a revelation to desist from the practice. Show more Show less
