Hi I'm McKay

I enjoy spending time with family, sports, and the simple things in life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Southern Utah, and I love to be outdoors doing anything. Growing up, there was always something to do and somewhere to be. I particularly remember always being at baseball tournaments in the summer, football games on friday nights, and on the slopes in winter. Just hanging out with my family and friends was what I enjoyed the most.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many, I was born into the church, my parents brought me with them every sunday that I can remember. But I gained a testimony of the church for myself when I was in high school from simply following an invitation to read the scriptures, namely The Book of Mormon. I had read and become familiar with parts of The Book of Mormon before, but never finished it cover to cover. As I read from The Book of Mormon each night, a feeling of peace came into my heart every time. I felt it was true. When I finished it, I prayed to ask my Heavenly Father if it was true, and again felt that feeling of peace in my heart. My testimony grew gradually from that point onward, built upon experience of living the gospel principles for myself. Today I serve as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in Melbourne, Australia. The experiences I have had here as a missionary have continued to shape my life and give me the direction I have been searching for My life has changed from the first day I read The Book of Mormon until now, but I have felt the love of the Savior Jesus Christ every step of the way as I've tried to follow Him.

How I live my faith

I guess the easiest way to explain that is to focus on the basics in life. Right now I'm a full time missionary for the church in Melbourne, Australia. We invite people to learn more simply by sharing our testimonies about what we know to be true. Life in general, as I've come to realize, is pretty busy and demands alot of our time and attention. But the gospel is simple... just do your best every day to focus on the basics, and the big things in life take care of themselves. That's what I've come to know to be true in my life, and how I dealt with the harder times I have come across.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

McKay
We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. I'm grateful to have the Bible... I love the New Testament because without it, I feel like I would be missing out on alot about the life of the Savior Jesus Christ. It really helps set the pattern for a Christ-like life. Likewise, I know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God, and that it goes hand in hand with the Bible in helping me know the fulness of the truth. One without the other in my life just seems incomplete. I don't think it makes sense to think that God stopped speaking to us collectively when Jesus Christ and his Apostles were killed and rejected. So yes, do know the Bible is the word of God, and I love to read it to help increase my testimony of the Savior. But I also know the Book of Mormon has added to my testimony as well.
