Hi I'm Tyler

I grew up in North Carolina. Not much religous background. I am a twin, a son, a friend, a missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

So I am from North Carolina. I love to play sports of all types. I played football, basketball, and track for my school. I also played Discgolf and Paintball. I am a huge movie buff and love all types of music. I am really into politics as well as history. I have a wonderful family. There were five in my family. Twin boys and a little sister. We never went to church much growing up. I can remember attending various types of churches throughout my life. I can recall being baptized/saved two or three times, mostly in baptist churches. My father was an inactive member of the church since he was 19. The only members in our family was my fathers parents. Both were very active. The rest of my extended family are all very strong baptists and protestants. I loved high school. Both me and my twin were very popular. We loved going hanging at with friends and having a good time. I was really into partying and being "cool." I was not afraid to do anything to get my name out there...

Why I am a Mormon

I was a junior in high school when my family moved to a new house. One of the boys we lived beside invited me and my brother to attend early morning seminary. I decided to go because I liked one of the girls that went. I actually really enjoyed the things that were being taught, but never really thought anything of it. A few weeks later we decided to move into our new house. During that time my father and mother had both seriously injured their feet in freak accidents. They were not much help moving. Out of the blue one saturday morning, the Elder Quorum showed up and moved us in like an hour or less. It was an amazing act of service. We had not even gone to church yet!!! The next week my brother, my father, and I went to church. We sat in the back of sacrament and had an amazing experience. Over the next few months the missionaries taught us. My brother and I were baptized within a few months. My father was almost immediately activated again. My sister was baptized when she turned 8. My mother took alittle bit longer, but she too was eventually baptized into the church!! My father became YM president and is now serving in the bishoperic. My brother and I are both serving missions spanish speaking. My mother passed away two years ago. It was very hard for me, but through the Plan of Salvation, I KNOW I will see her again. I will see that it was not till after reading the Book Of Mormon on the mission and striving to be obedient, that I was truly converted in my heart to this church.

How I live my faith

I am serving a mission in Las Vegas, Nevada. I go out everyday from 1000 AM - 930 PM teaching people about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I invite people to listen to our message, read the Book of Mormon, then ponder and pray to find out if it is true. I also try to live the Attributes of Jesus Christ such as Faith, Love, Charity, Patience, Dilligence, Obedience, Hope, Virtue, etc. I try to align my life with God's will. Striving always to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost. I show my faith through my example and action.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Tyler
EVERYTHING that is around us. How the planets move in perfect motion. The fact that plant life can sustain itself. Everything I see in the eyes of people, the eyes of a new born...let me know there is someone greater than us controlling all of this. Yet, he will take time out of his busy day and answer a small, feeble prayer from someone like me. :) Show more Show less
