Hi I'm Alyn

I grew up in the Midwest, I am a real estate professional, I am a mother of a child with autism. I'm a Mormon

About Me

My husband it is in the military, I am a real estate professional, I have 5 children, one of which has autism. Our son was diagnosed with moderate/high functioning autism at age 2. We were told by the doctors that he would likely remain non-verbal and need special schools his whole life. He was a huge challenge as a small child and we felt afraid that our lives would never be "normal" again. We have really learned to lean on our faith because of him and our prayers have definitely been answered! Through a lot of prayer, therapy, patience, dietary changes, family training, patience, advocating, teaching, patience, alternative therapy, and more prayer we have a wonderful, verbal, fun-loving 12 year old. He is in a special education class in middle school and he loves it! He loves to listen to country music, watch his shows on T.V., play Wii, ride his bike, play tag with this brothers and sisters, and swim at the pool. He is a great blessing to us! I am a mother, a teacher/trainer/live-in therapist for my son, and a survivor of autism!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my family was Mormon growing up. I stayed Mormon as an adult because I know this is the only way for me to find lasting happiness--particularly when life throws me an unexpected challenge. The depth of my belief grows daily as I use the Gospel of Jesus Christ to deal with and overcome my trials. It makes me happy!!

How I live my faith

It is not a flashy thing--my faith is personal. I live it quietly, but I hope the effects of it show outwardly. I am conspicuous in my beliefs in front of my children--I want them to know the source of my happiness! I love teaching children and have been asked to teach them at church in several capacities over the last ten years. I used to be the head of a local support group for parents who have children on the autism spectrum. I loved talking to and supporting other parents who were dealing with autism.
