Hi I'm Carrie

Hey, I was born and raised in a small town in Texas, I love my family, love being outside, and I love being a Mormon!!

About Me

Well I was pretty much raised in the church, my parents are converts. They were baptized when I was real little. I went to a small school which there was only a handful of youth there with me. I am the only one out of all my friends who go to the church. Lucky for me they do not pressure me into anything I don't want to do. In fact they have many of the same standards as I do, I am very lucky to have my friends. I love going to the church activities, mostly to hang out with old friends. When we do service that always makes me feel all good inside and always wanting to do more. I really love to ride my horse and be outside, so when I get to put on a petting zoo for orphans or even just for the kids at the church you could imagine how that could make me feel.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 8 years old I got baptized, that choice alone has changed my life. After I was baptized I received the Holy Ghost. That has been the greatest gift anyone could ever give me. There was a time when I didn't have the holy ghost with me all the time and as soon as that happened things got the worst for me. I was making wrong choices, I was always sad or angry with everyone that talked to me. I know I was not pleasant to be around, but the ones that truly loved me stood by my side and when the time was right they helped me. Missionaries really played a part in my life, after I talked to them one day I realized just how miserable I was. That day was one of the next ones that would change my life forever, suddenly I knew just what I needed to do in order to be happy. Days later people were asking me what changed, they commented how much happier I had become. Simply because I started praying and reading my scriptures again. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings us the most happiness and peace in our lives. It is the one true thing that we can count on, people fail us all the time but Heavenly Father will not EVER fail us no matter what. I am so thankful for the gospel an the gift of the holy ghost in my life. I love it so much, the Book of Mormon tells us how we can get closer to Christ and have peace in this world if we abide by its precepts. I believe that with all my heart, I put it to the test just like you can and then you will know for yourself its truthfulness.

How I live my faith

I really get to teach or show how I live my life while I am out around my coworkers, family, and friends. While I am at work almost everyday my boss and I have our conversations about our religions. I can see how by living the way I do and being taught about the church I have so much more to look forward to sometimes. Her family has had a hard life; and I thank my heavenly father that I have not had that kind of life. I help her and her family with whatever I can do, lots of times when I just talk to her and comfort her I am promted to say the things I say. Being strong in the church and preparing to serve the lord has made me be a better mormon. Being able to serve a full time mission has really helped me learn to live my faith, I never thought I would say that. Going out and doing all sorts of service for others and teach them the gospel has blessed my life in such a way that I can not explain. It all prepared me to be where I am now. I have a constant reminder about how life was on the mission, I compare just about each day like I was on my mission still. Being an example to those around me I can see how I can improve my life. My absolute favorite thing about the church is the service it provides for members and nonmembers alone. I get that from my dad, he was the perfect example in my life of how I should really treat others. No matter what happens I know that Heavenly Father has my back and with his son Jesus Christ I can make it through anything that comes in my path.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony that "Mormons" speak of to me is a feeling in my heart that I know what the church is teaching is true. People can have a testimony about a lot of different things in life. Knowing it in your heart, having the Holy Ghost testify it to you makes all the difference in the world. The spirit testifies all sorts of things to us each day, it is up to us to listen so that our testimony can grow and further develop. It is a very spiritual experience that we go through, at the end of it we have learned something to be the truth. Show more Show less
