Hi I'm Vern

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Boise, Idaho, moved to San Jose California where I married my wife and raised our children.

About Me

My wife and I love being with our children and grandchildren; they are the joy of our lives. I love sports and actively participated in sports in high school and college. I love playing golf with family and friends. I am a cancer survivor and know the power that faith can have in healing one from such a dreaded disease. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and all that it encompasses. Through it I have learned that Father in Heaven has a plan for each of us and if we follow that plan we can return to live with him, with our family.

Why I am a Mormon

Ancestors from both of my parents joined the Church in the 1840's. They sacrificed much to embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to leave a legacy for their descendants to embrace and follow. I was fortunate enough to be able to have those valiant souls provide a foundation for me to build my own testimony on. I am a member of the Church because I have come to know for myself that the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ provides the way and the means for every son and daughter of our Heavenly Father to return to live with Him through coming to know what He expects of us and then being willing to pay the price of complete obedience the rest of our lives. I freely testify that God is our Father, that His Son, Jesus Christ, is indeed the Savior of the World. He died that we might live and in so doing might gain Eternal Life, the privilege of living with our Heavenly Father for all eternity. He invites each and every one of us to Come Unto Him and be cleansed of our sins through faith in Him, repenting of all sins, being baptized for the remission of sins, receiving the Holy Ghost to help to purify and sanctify us, and enduring to the end. One of our Apostles taught, "The Gospel is simply beautiful and beautifully simple." I so testify to that truth. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and along with the Bible teaches testifies of Jesus Christ and his mission. There is a power that emanates from the pages of that book that will help any sincere person come to know of its truth. It is its own personal witness.

How I live my faith

I have been active in the Church all of my life. I have served in many different capacities within the Church. I have enjoyed every calling that I have had as each calling helped me to grow personally and through those callings I was also able to help others grow and change their lives, to come closer to being what their Father in Heaven has invited them to become. My wife and I recently returned from serving a mission as senior missionaries in the Argentina Resistencia Mission. Previously we served in the Mexico Guadalajara South Mission. We love sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others as it changes their lives and provides them with a purpose and a happiness that many never knew they could enjoy. We left behind our children and grandchildren to help others find the joy that comes from learning how their family can become an eternal family, returning to live with their Heavenly Father and their Savior for all eternity. We know that what we are teaching is the truth. We have sought answers to our prayers and they have been confirmed. We doubt not nor do we hestitate to declare these things to be true.
