Hi I'm Ryan Brewster

I have exostosis. I love anything athletic. I'm an engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am one of 6 kids in my family. I was born with multiple exostosis, a condition where my bones grow bumps on them. Because of this, all throughout my life I have had to have surgery about once every 2 years to have these bumps removed. I served a 2 year mission testifying of Jesus Christ to people in west Texas and east New Mexico. I love playing sports, especially soccer and basketball. I love going backpacking and hiking, the feeling that I get when I am on the top of a mountain. I am currently studying to be an engineer. I love life!

Why I am a Mormon

As a little kid growing up with multiple exostosis, I would sometimes have a difficult time and question why me. Whenever I would have surgeries to have the bumps removed I always had a hard time, especially before the surgeries with the anticipation of them. As a little kid I had a fear of the unknown, not knowing what would happen to me after or during the surgery. I remember both of my parents and my siblings as well as friends praying for me. I remember my dad giving me a priesthood blessing. Whenever these things happened, I always felt peace. Even though I didn't know what was going to happen, I always felt peace. I have felt that same peace many times in my life: when I go to church, when I read the Book of Mormon, when I pray, when I ponder about the Savior. I am a Mormon because I know that this is Christ's restored church on the earth because I feel the peace that comes from it.

How I live my faith

What I love about Jesus Christ and His gospel is that it puts into perspective the most important things in life. I love spending time with my family and serving others. Being able to serve in my community with volunteer organizations as well as the everyday random acts of service available is something that fills me with joy. It is really when I lose myself in the service of others that I find myself most happy. Helping put a smile on someone else's face is one of the best feelings ever!

What is being a Mormon like?

Ryan Brewster
Being a Mormon is fun!!! When you are baptized by someone holding God's authority to do so, you promise to God that you will keep His commandments. When you keep His commandments, He always blesses you. As I have striven to keep His commandments, I have always noticed that I have joy and peace. Life is still hard at times, but no matter what happens I can still feel that peace and joy that He gives. That is why being a Mormon is fun. Show more Show less
