Hi I'm David Kurtz

I was born in the midwest and moved the southwest to raise a family. I build energy effcient homes. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised by a good Mom and Dad. They were super honest and righteous, even though they really didn't get into church much. I went to college for four or five years and never figured out what I wanted to do. I 've been a respiratory therapist, chemist for the copper industry, truck driver, construction worker, accounts payable, tile contractor, construction superintendent, and an energy eficient custom home contractor and now we are taking in foster kids that need theraputic care. I'm married to a great person and have two kids, ages 37and 21. I love motorcycles, alternative building techniques, music, hiking and kayaking. Sundays are my favorite day.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been looking for God all my life. We have friends that are Mormons and see how they are so family oriented. We liked that so when my neighbor asked us to come to church to see what Mormons were like, we accepted. I've never seen such a group of people that like to help others and are genuinely nice. My son was 8 and the missionaries came over. We had them come twice a week. We accepted a Baptism date after the Elders made ME pray and we felt the spirit strongly. They said that we felt that because the Lord wants us in HIS church. I joined for my son mostly, but went to all the activities. Soon I began to develope a testamony. As each piece of the puzzle fell into place I gained a stronger testamony. Now after 11 years, I still know this is the true church on this planet. I know the Christ Jesus, lives and gave his life for us, so we could have a chance to live forever. I know HE runs this church. I know if we follow the Prophets advice and the Lord's commandments that we can return to our Father in heaven. It all makes sense and is logical. I am 100% on board. I'm greatfull for our neighbor lady who had the courage to ask us to come to church. I'm greatfull for all the people in the Book of Mormon who's sacrifices and actions made it possible for the restoration of this Gospel. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Since I became a member of the church I've been involved with the youth. I've gotten to teach the seven year olds for a few years. then I was involved in scouting with kids 12 to 18. I've worked in the nursery for two years, which was one of my favorite assignments. Recently I've become a councilor to help the Bishop oversee the entire ward. We are constantly looking for members and non members alike that need he[p in their lives. We always get to help the Missionaries for the church to help future members come unto Christ. That's my favorite part as we have a son on his two year Mission now. We also have members that we home teach so we can keep track of all our members to make sure they are taken care of. Doing service for the Lord is the greatest thing to do. It makes us feel good and takes our mind off difficulties in our own lives. Since we joined this Church 11 years ago our lives have changed for the better 100%. I'm greatfull for the lady who had the couage to invite us to church the first time.
