Hi I'm Brittney

I study geology. I love learning how the world works and how God created it. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love asking questions about everything. I love learning about other religions and countries as well as my own. I also enjoy studying geology and I like a challenge. Now that I have a degree, I am pursuing my career in science/geology. I am the oldest of three sisters. Meeting people and getting to know what makes them tick always makes me happy! I love helping others.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that my Father in Heaven loves me and wants me to succeed. I am a mormon because He has guided me to this church with his Holy Spirit and he wants me to learn to be more like him and his son, Jesus Christ. I have had challenges throughout my life like everyone does and the gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me through it all. I feel that I have become a better person by being a member of His church. I know that there are truths in other churches but you can find the most truth here. During my hard trials, I know that it is Christ carrying me through them because by myself I probably wouldn't be able to keep a positive attitude about my life and about the world. I love this gospel because it is positive. It teaches me that I am loved no matter what and that I can love everyone else no matter what. We are all brothers and sisters and there is nothing more uplifting than to know that we are all part of a loving family with a Heavenly Father and a wonderful, selfless big brother, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I enjoy getting to know each person at church and learning to love each one. I try and see them as God would see them. I try and uplift everyone around me, whether or not they share my faith. I love doing Visiting Teaching because it gives me the chance to befriend some of the sisters in my singles ward. It helps me learn how to serve them and help them with their needs. I talk about my religion at work, I teach Relief Society once a month, and I am my ward's Employment Specialist. I love having many outlets to talk about my faith because it is an important part of who I am.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Mormon women do not hold the priesthood because they don't need to. I have never felt inadequate/unequal/left out in the Church because of my gender. I don't feel it is necessary for me to have the priesthood personally in order for me to become the type of woman God wants me to be. I love being a woman in the Church. I have held many leadership callings. I was Beehive, Mia Maid, and Laurel President as a young woman. I was a full-time missionary. I have helped organize a lot of activities as a youth and an adult. I was in my singles ward Relief Society Presidency. I currently teach Relief Society. I also help my fellow brothers and sisters find employment. I love participating in Relief Society. It is a wonderful group for me to participate in and find girls and women who are just like me striving to overcome weaknesses and trials. Men have their Priesthood Quorums. We compliment one another. I feel that this parallels the way our marriages should be. We should compliment one another as spouses. If I have ever felt looked down on or unequal because of my gender it is because of individuals and their personal culture. I know that attitude does not represent the Church's attitude because we believe in Christ and I do not believe that Christ picks and chooses whomever based on their gender, race, social status, etc. He chooses people based on their heart and potential.
