Hi I'm Tanner

I love my family. My passion is music. I'm a follower of Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 20 years old. There are two major hobbies in my life: music and sports. I love to play soccer and basketball when I have the chance, and I enjoy doing gymnastics. With music, I play the cello, piano, guitar, and I sing. I have always been one of those quiet, shy people up until this point in life when I've started breaking out of my comfort zone. I have moved around a couple times in my life. I've lived 11 years in Utah, 4 years in Tennessee, 5 years in Idaho, and almost a year in Pennsylvania. I've found that there are really great people in every place that I've lived.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in this church, that's how it started. But the reason that I continue being an active mormon is becuase of the happiness that it has brought to my life. I feel that through this church, I can draw myself closer and closer to my Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ. I have prayed many times to know that if what I am doing is right. I know that this is where God wants me to be. Everything that I have found and learned, both makes sense and feels right.

How I live my faith

Right now I am currently away from my family serving a two year mission for my church becuase I want to share with others all the joy that I experience. When I lived with my family, we would do our best to read the scriptures and pray together every day. I've seen that that effort brought our family a lot closer together, and that the days that we missed reading and praying seemed to be a little bit more frusteration filled. I also went around to other members of the chruch to share a little spiritual message and to see in what ways I could help them. Through this church, I'm given more opportunities to serve others, and to learn more and become more like our Savior Jesus Christ.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

The temples buildings very special and sacred. Only those who are ready can go in. Here is an example: Before somebody gets baptized into our church, they need to do a few things first. They need to learn about what we believe, they need to accept it and believe it. They need to be willing to repent of their sins and do their best to follow Jesus Christ. They need to know what baptism means, that they are making promises with God, so that it will be something special for them and they need to be ready for it. It's not that we don't want them to be baptized, but that they need to know what baptism means to them so that it is something important for them and they will know how to keep those baptismal promises. It's the same with going into the temple, but a bit higher. We make some more promises with God. To be ready for it, the person needs to have already show that they have been keeping the commandments and has been doing their best at following the example of Jesus Christ. He or she needs to know a little bit more and be at a higher spiritual standard so that the experience of going into the House of the Lord (the temple) means something to them and they are ready to keep the additional promises.
