Hi I'm Dirk

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a member of the Church all my life. I am a fifth generation Arizonan. I have four children. My oldest, a girl, was just married in the Snowflake Arizona temple. My oldest boy just left to serve a mission in Honolulu Hawaii. My other two are boys in Jr. High and High school and keep me and my wife busy with their sports and other activities. I was married to my wife almost 24 years ago in the Mesa Arizona temple. I served a mission to Dallas, Texas and loved my experiences there. I have served in many positions on the church and was recently released as the Bishop of our ward in Lakeside, AZ. I have always been physically active and enjoy all kinds of sports. My joy comes from knowing my Savior, belonging to His Church, and raising my family. I strive to keep the commandments everyday and enjoy the blessings that I receive from being close to my family and my Savior.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a family that were already members of Christ's Church. I was raised understanding and knowing the commandments and understanding God's Plan of Happiness. I can't remember a time when I really didn't know where I came from, why I am here on the earth, and where I am going when I die, although my understanding of these questions have been clarified as I have grown and been strengthened in my understanding and knowledge of the Gospel. I love the simplicity of the Gospel but at the same time I really do enjoy that the Church requires much of its members through service and righteous living. It makes sense to me. I love how being a member of this church allows me to understand more fully who my Savior is and what exactly he has done for me personally. I appreciate and think about His sacrifice for each of us, particularly me every day.

How I live my faith

I love serving in Christ's church. I have always tried to be faithful in magnifying my calling whatever they may be. Outside of my full-time missionary service 25 years ago, I have served in Cub Scouts, as a Sunday School teacher and many others including a Bishopric and five years as a Bishop. Each calling has allowed me to understand how the church is organized and how we all need to do our part in order for the church to be successful. Most importantly, my callings have allowed me to serve others in a capacity I would never have been able to without the church. I have come to have faith in people but particularly the youth. The youth of this generation are amazing! Serving with them and counseling with them has enabled me to understand that the future of this church and our communities will be in great hands. I learn from each of them and the goodness they share. I have also learned that the members of this church are not perfect, but that the Gospel and the organization of Christ's church is perfect. If the members were all perfect, there wouldn't be much need for the Church. This Church helps me to become more perfect, although I feel I still have a long ways to go. I treasure my testimony of Christ's Church.
