Hi I'm Liz.

I'm a home school mom and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife and mother of seven young children. It's taken a lot of sacrifice on my part to give up some of the things in my life that I thought defined me in order to take care of my family spiritually, physically and emotionally. But as I've dedicated myself to God in a life of service to my family, the crusty shell of my self-made identity is breaking away and God is showing me who I really am inside and what my true potential is as His daughter. I find so much joy in sharing with my children the things I learned before they came along and the things I'm learning about now. Whether I'm teaching them political science, music theory, or the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I get a feeling that can't be beat! When I see their eyes light up with understanding and I feel the Holy Spirit warm my own heart as I teach, I am filled with joy knowing that the things I teach them are not only true, but will be a blessing to them as they make their own way in this life equipped to face the challenges that lie ahead. Looking back, I realize there's nothing that could ever be as fulfilling as what I'm doing now, and there's no way I would want to go back to being the person I once was. Being a mother has helped me grow in so many ways and the gospel of Jesus Christ makes it possible. Each new day is a challenge and each new day God helps me discover what I really can do with His help.

Why I am a Mormon

Where else can I find the promise of eternal life with my family? It is only in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that we find the power and authority that can make our family bonds eternal. This authority is from Jesus Christ. This is His church. In His church is the power and authority to baptize and confer the gift of the Holy Ghost. God promises us that we can always have His spirit to be with us, to guide us, to comfort us, and to help us discern what is true as we promise to always remember Jesus Christ and try our best to keep His commandments. This constant companionship of the Holy Ghost makes all the difference in my life. It is the source of my joy, my peace, and the love I feel for my family. Where else can I find the authority and power which enable me to secure these blessings and promises for me and my family? No where else.

How I live my faith

Our family attends a small congregation called a branch. At church I play the organ, teach Sunday school, and do singing time with the children. Sundays are the best! Although it can be difficult to get all the kids ready for church every week, my husband and I always have such a wonderful feeling when we get home from church. We feel like we have really helped people that we love and care about. We know that when we're serving others we're serving God. He blesses us with joy in return.
