Hi I'm Jordan

I love buffalo wings. I'm a closet nerd. I have a sick obsession with ties. I listen to Metallica. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love to hike, backpack, mountain bike, and generally enjoy the outdoors. I am a passionate singer, even if I'm not that good. I believe that video games are an appropriate way to relieve stress, despite what my mother says. I'm a horrible student, but I love to learn. I love my family and spending time with them, and plan on living with them for eternity, and I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have found out for myself, by the power of the Holy Ghost, that the Book of Mormon is true. Before I went on my mission, the two-year period that LDS males are asked to give to preach their beliefs, I wanted to make sure that I really did believe in this church. So, I knelt in prayer and asked God, in the name of Christ, if the Book of Mormon was true. I told Him that if I didn't receive an answer, I probably wouldn't go on my mission, but if I did receive my answer, I would go whole-heartedly. As evidenced by the fact that I'm on my mission, I got my answer. The Holy Ghost came over me and gave me a feeling of peace, and a calm assurance that I should go on a mission, and that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that God has once again spoken to us, his children, through a prophet. I'm so grateful for the knowledge that I have about our Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon because I know that this is the only path to Eternal Life with our families and our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Well, right now, I am giving up two years of my life to serve the Lord in California! I use the phrase, "giving up" lightly. By giving these years in service, I'm actually gaining so much more in blessings. I love being a missionary. It's definitely the most rewarding thing I've done with my life, and I have never regretted my decision to come to California from Utah to serve the Lord.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Baptisms for the dead represent what is possibly one of my favorite doctrines that has been restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith. This is the belief that when somebody dies without knowledge of Jesus Christ, our Savior, that it doesn't mean that they go to Hell eternally. In actuality, everybody will get a chance to hear the message of Jesus Christ and his Atonement, whether in this life, or the next. It is for this reason that we perform baptisms for the dead. We believe, as Jesus taught in John 35 that all men must be baptized. However, if someone is dead, how can they be baptized? The answer to this question is in baptisms for the dead. A living person is baptized in proxy for the person who has passed on. By doing this, we give them the option, not force them, to accept the Gospel in the next life. That's why we baptize for the dead. Show more Show less
