Hi I'm Melanie

Life is precious and short! Each day is a gift! I love my family--they are my life. I am an athlete, mother, and Cancer Survivor.

About Me

I have 6 brothers and 5 sisters. I was born #6 of 12 -- right in the middle! We didn't have much growing up but we were loved and were taught correct principles. I felt lost once in awhile being in a big family but I always felt comforted by the Spirit. Somehow I just knew Heavenly Father was there. I married at age 20 to a wonderful man, Gary! We have three beautiful children. I love being a Mom! The teenage years have been fun but challenging. But, I know that with help from my Heavenly Father and guidelines from the church standards we can make it! I like to run, waterski, hike, camp, dance, take pictures, read, bake, and do family history. I have suffered with a few health issues at a young age including Crohn's disease. Prayer and faith have carried me through. I like to help others in need -- especially the elderly. I like to play with the children -- especiallly the toddlers. My family calls me a "baby stealer" because I like to hold all the babies at church. I guess that comes from being raised with so many siblings. I just love newborns! Nothing special -- just an ordinary Mom.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was blessed to be born into a member family. However, I had to know for myself. My testimony was not automatic. I gained my testimony when I was 17 years old. I finished reading the Book of Mormon. I knelt down by my bed and prayed about it. The most powerful feeling came over me! I felt the infinite love of my Savior Jesus Christ. I knew the Book of Mormon was true and that the Church of Jesus Crhist of Latter-Day Saints was true. From that point on, I decided to live my life according to the standards of the church. I have been blessed immensely!

How I live my faith

I live a healthy life. I have never partaken of drugs or alcohol. I eat good food and excercise. It is amazing to feel the relationship between your physical body and your spiritual body. I have just ran my 1st half-marathon. I will be running my second soon! I am a stay-at-home Mom. My kids are in their teens now and I could easily work. However, my husband has been blessed with a job that sustains our family. I feel, now more than ever, that I need to be home for my children. I need to be rested and strong for them! They are confronted with so many evils throughout the day. I need to make our home a haven from the world! I love to go to church each Sunday. I teach the youth -- for nearly 8 years now! -- and I love it! They are the future leaders of our community. I love to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ because I love it so much! I want others to love it as I do. I know they will have joy and fulfillment if they do.
