Hi I'm Cassidy

I grew up in Idaho, I love all music, I'm always singing even though I'm no Faith Hill, I love playing sports, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Cassidy, I like to imagine that I was named after Butch Cassidy, it sounds good at least. I'm 21 years old, I love playing basketball, and football. I love music, country, classic rock, new rock, I love it all. I'm a huge fan of the Utah Jazz and watch every game. I'm currently serving a mission in the Mississippi Jackson Mission and it's the best decision I have ever made. I have grown to love serving others, and less of myself. When I am finished with my mission, I will return to Idaho and go BYU-Idaho.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Idaho into a Mormon family, My Grandpa converted to the church when he met my Grandma. He grew up in a different religion. He met my Grandma who was a Mormon and she told him to meet with Mormon missionaries, he was hesitant to listen to them and wasn't too interested in the church at first. My Grandma told him to read the Book of Mormon so he did. He found out for himself that it was true and was baptized. They got married and raised their family Mormon and that's the way I was raised by my parents. I know that it's true because I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it and what I learned from church. I found out that it's true not because I took my family's word for it, but because I found out for myself. I am so blessed to have grown up in the true church on earth. I believe that because I have been so blessed to know that it's true, it's my oppurtunity and responsibility to share what I know with everyone else that doesn't know at this point what is the truth. That's why I am serving a mission in Mississippi, it would be selfish to keep it to myself. I know that Jesus Christ lives, I know He atoned for our sins and I'm forever grateful for that because I'm not perfect and neither is anyone else who has ever lived on the earth besides Him. I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love absolutely everyone more than we can possibly comprehend and what they want most is for all of us to return and live with them again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church, trying my best to keep the commandments of God, perform callings in church, and it all comes down to doing the best that I can to follow the example of Jesus Christ. Callings in the church can be a wide variety of things to do, what I did before my mission was to make sure the church was locked up at night and the lights were off. When I come home from my mission I will get another calling and do the best I can in that.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

The very best way to know that Mormonism is true is through the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, and goes hand in hand with the Bible. The Book of Mormon prophesies of Jesus Christ's birth, tells of Him coming to the Americas after He was crucified and teaching and performing miracles to the people just like He did in Jerusalem, and testifies of Him afterwards. If anyone reads it with a sincere heart and honestly wants to know if it is true, God promises that He will make it known to them. People don't have to take Mormons word for it, the awesome thing is that everyone can find out for themselves if it is true. So that is the way to know if Mormonism is true, get a copy of the Book of Mormon from the Mormon missionaries, a Mormon member, or get it online, then read it with a sincere question on whether it is true, pray to God about it and you will know that it is true, simple as that. And if the Book of Mormon is true, then Joseph Smith had to have been a true prophet, and everything that Mormons practice and believe is all true. Every other concern about our faith fits into place. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. The Bible is of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem and that nation's and people's account of Him. The Book of Mormon is ancient America's account of Jesus Christ. Back then, there wasn't technology like there is today so people in Jerusalem didn't know what was going on with the people in the Americas and the other nations and vice-versa. God isn't going to let one nation hear and see the truth and not another nation. We are all God's people and we all have the right and chance to accept that truth. So God had prophets in the ancient Americas 600 years before Christ's birth, during His life, and after His death, just like in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon is those prophets writings, prophesying of Jesus Christ, telling of His coming, and testifying of Him after His death. And were so blessed to have it today. So in reality the Book of Mormon and the Bible go hand in hand and bring each other up because they are two different nation's accounts of the same thing. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and the whole world has the same right to hear and know of Him and come closer to Him. We will come closer to Him as we read the Book of Mormon as well as the Bible and we pray to know of it's truth. Show more Show less
