Hi I'm Santiago

I grew up in Colombia, live in the States. I love life! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Colombia and grew up there. Moved to the US when I was 14 years old. Learned English when I came to the States. Throughout my life I have loved sports. While in school I played soccer, waterpolo and ran in the cross country team. I like sports of any kind. I also like school. I'm planning to be a Civil Engineer. As other hobbies I like to read and to hang out with friends and family. I love dancing any type of Hispanic dances and also enjoy singing, I'm not really good though I also play some piano and guitar. I love learning more about Jesus Christ from the scriptures and going to church. I love helping and meeting new people.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Why not? I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all of my life. I grew up in the same faith as my parents, but that is not why I chose to be a Mormon. When I was a teenager I desired to find truth for myself. I desired to confirm the knowledge that I was taught by my parents. So, there was much study and praying in my part to know if these things were true, but the answer came as I started to life what Jesus Christ taught us. I had a great change in my life I changed my way of living to fit the teachings of the Master. I learned through experience that God is our Father in Heaven and that His only purpose is to have us, His children, by his side again. That has been one of the greatest lessons that I have learned in my life because it helped me understand that there is mercy and love in God’s path of life for his children. So as I came to live the teachings of Jesus Christ my heart was filled with joy, peace, happiness, love and many other great feelings that only come from God. I remember my fervent prayer, my cry for help, but must importantly the answer! I still feel in me the feeling that came as I knelt in supplication. It was a soothing feeling of peace and comfort, a glorious feeling that comes in knowing that you have been forgiven. I felt the love that God, my Father, had for me, His child. This feeling has been with me since, and what is most amazing is that it is growing more. I know now that God lives, that He loves us and He cares for us. I know that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to build an unbreakable connection with Him. I know that thanks to Jesus Christ I can be forgiven of my sins by his infinite mercy and grace after doing all that I can to follow his commandments. I know that He is the only way to live again with our Heavenly Father. I love Him and work every day to be better and help others come to Him and taste of what I have tasted, the sweetness of the Love of God.

How I live my faith

One of the greatest teachings that Jesus Christ gave to his Apostles was the following as he said “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” I love God with all my heart and that means following what He said and taught. I have found great joy in serving others, my brothers and sisters, everywhere. I have noticed that it is the greatest way to serve God. Right now I am a missionary in Virginia. I love the opportunity I have to help others not only in temporal matters but to build a stronger connection with God by inviting them to come unto Christ. As a missionary I serve for a period of 2 years, yep every day from sunrise until bedtime helping and caring about others. I have never been happier in my life

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Santiago
We believe in God our Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. God is our Father, we are his children and like a perfect Father He loves us very much. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life", "for as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive". And so, our Father in heaven has created a path back home! One of the greatest blessings that He has given us in this earth is families. Families are the central plan of God. Satan knows this very well. As we see in the world today, families are being attacked in every direction. Families have been attacked since the first family came to earth, Adam and Eve. God knew that this would happen so in order to protect the family He has called prophets since the beginnings of time. He would speak to them, and give them council and guidelines to protect the sanctity of the family. They spoke to the nations of the earth who in turn had the freedom to chose to follow or reject the message from God. When people became too wicked they rejected the message of the Prophets by killing them. God in his eternal love would send another Prophet to protect the human family. All of them testified and taught about the coming of the Messiah, the Son of God, who would come to save the world. All of prophesies written by the prophets were fulfilled as Christ came to this world and atoned for our sins. He also established a new law, a higher law given to Him by His Father. Thus, He established a true and living church edified in the foundation of prophets and apostles that held the true authority to baptize and to act in God’s name. Jesus Christ was the head of His church. As He resurrected, He left the church in the hands of a prophet and tweve apostles, who were guided by revelation and the Holy Ghost. People once again rejected the prophet and apostles killing them as Christ prophesied. The foundation and true authority to baptize held by them was lost. As the foundation of the Church and the authority to receive revelation was taken away the church drifted into apostasy. God once again, and for the last time as these are the last days, has restored this true authority to the earth by calling a modern day prophet and apostles. He has restored the true and living church which is guided by Jesus Christ through revelation to his servants on earth. I know that this is true by the power of the Holy Ghost. I know this because God answered my prayers. Everybody can know this truth by reading, pondering and praying about the Book of Mormon, for it is another testament of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is a record of the a group of people that migrated from Jerusalem about 600 years before the birth of Christ to the Americas. This record holds revelations and teachings from the Savior written by prophets by the power of the Holy Ghost. After a thousand years of history this record was hiden because of the wickedness of the people in the land. Two hundred years ago God reveled this record to Joseph Smith, a young boy who was chosen and prepared to do a great work in this last days. He translated this ancient record by the power of God. The Book of Mormon is true, it is the fruit of a modern prophet and a tangible witness to all who persue truth sicerely that God has restored His Church. It stands with the Bible to testify of the Savior and of His glorious coming to earth once more.
